    Hi All.

    Anyone going to the Olympics?
Got confirmation of all the tickets I ordered this morning.

Anyone else have good or bad experience with the process?

I only managed to get 8 tickets for the Men’s 100mtr final Pete…very dissapointing 🙁

Yep.. just kidding, I didn’t apply for any..but well done on getting your confirmation. What are you going to see, have you heard yet?
A lot of very disappointed people out there.

Seemed a strange set up, the whole ticket application system.

Funny enough I was sitting on a train yesterday beside the stadium thinking may be I should have applied.

Stratford has changed beyond recognition since getting the games.

I reckon most that applied for opening and closing ceremony, 100m final etc were looking to make a quick buck, by selling them on.
from what I have heard and seen recently, the whole ticket allocation system is a farce,

    just like the 2012 logo!!

I agree Peter, with huge allocations of the best tickets going to blue chip companies and foreign dignitaries and the like…again it all comes down to MONEY!

with your genuine sports/olympic fans having to apply for the tickets they probably have no chance of getting in a seemingly farce lottery system.

And as for the logo…well , I think we should have a design competition to see if someone could come up with something better :lol1:

Yes it was a long drawn out process. I only applied for two tickets for the ladies hockey final for myself and my daughter. So I suppose I was lucky to get just two

It was a farce as I could have used our address in France and purchased tickets really easily.

    Still, were on our way!

    Peter,
you’re the first person I know who actually got any. I think my mum applied but i don’t know if she got any, she’d prob keep it secret and make it some sort of surprise if she did… I didn’t apply for any in the end.

the so called people’s games ??

the kids all wanted to see something different, as did I, by the time we totted up our list of a couple of dozen tickets, spread over 4 days and 4 or 5 events (we were gonna stay at friends a short train hop away) it was coming on for £1500, that plus food etc etc meant a whole lot of dosh. the only ‘special tickets’ we wanted were the opening ceremony, the rest were various athletics, some cycling on one day, etc. not a final among them!

I was gonna max the spare credit card and go but the two older boys came to me and said "stuff it dad, we’ll see more on the tv and free too – no point paying off a credit card for six months when less money could take us all on a nice holiday which will be equally memorable"! talk about humbled on the spot!

I do feel bad about not taking the kids, I always sit and watch the TV while thinking how great it’d be to go to an opening ceremony, to be part of something that big.

so, "We, The people" would need to put ourselves into debt in order to go? who wins there then? ooooh…. wouldn’t be the banks again would it?

as others have said, the big corporations are getting huge No’s of top tickets, no wonder people struggled to get tickets.

even the application form took me a day to work out!

Interesting Hugh. The amazing thing is that I only did it about 30 minutes before the deadline because a relative had sent some money for my daughter. So we decided to spend it on that. I was shocked to get them really.

Will the BBC broadcast it in HD on Freeview?
