‘Older’ printer recommendations
Hi All. It’s been quite a while since we’ve done some proper sign making – 5 years or so ! (having outsourced some bits and pieces of work etc since selling up)
Considering getting back into it again properly and looking at printers. Can’t afford a new one unfortunately but been looking at slightly older HP latex systems like the 360/370. Having only really had Roland experience for 10 years previously any reviews on this type of printer please in respect of colour vibrancy, reliability etc in comparison to eco solvent ?

I think an HP Latex is a good safe bet and the 360 is a tried and tested money maker.

the HP 360 is an excellent machine. I bought new, but as long as you buy one from a reputable source, you won’t regret it.
we run solvent machines for about 13-15 years. further back we run thermal printers, wax-resin, even a UV flatbed. We switched to a UV roll after the solvent and then moved to Latex after seeing the benefits of instantly dry prints. The Latex 360 is the easiest all-rounder in my honest opinion.
All that said, Solvent printers are great and have come on leaps and bounds since I used them.
when outgassed properly, they are also one of the longest tried and tested vehicle wrapping options.Like everything, Solvent, Latex, UV and whatever… there are Pros and Cons to each.
you should make a list of the type of things you will use your machine for. At this stage, I doubt white ink should be considered. It’s a lovely option to have but unless its required day to day or week to week, ide sidestep it.-
Brilliant. Thanks Rob. I suppose our only really worry would be if HP decide to stop producing inks etc for it like they did the L26500 printers as the 360 is starting to be getting on a bit relative to newer technology printers. Sounds like it could be a goer though !

HP 360 is an amazing machine, as Robert said, get one from a reputable source with some form of warranty, you’ll be very happy!.
HP365 has no real world differences, it was all internal modifications – uprated PSU, adjustment to carriage, modification to take up where a few of the items that come to mind.
I highly rate our 360’s, and at times there more reliable than the new L700w we have!
Just one point, you will need 2 x 16amp sockets.
