    Evening All!

Not sure if anyone can help me out. I invested in all the equipment to make number plates and some safety signs last week as an add-on to the business. But the software I have I am not a huge fan of…

How easy is it to make a illustrator template do you think? Also any ideas on the fonts for standard number plates, 3D and Carbon (All the legal fonts)?

    Any help will be appreciated.

Craig, if you bought the kit did it not include the fonts?

It is Charles wright 2001 I believe, and the only one permitted

Yes I got a piece of windows software but I don’t really like it.

So I’m thinking of making up some templates for illustrator or coral draw. I like to do things myself. 😛

it is a 5 minute job in illustrator, and cant understand why you would ask if its possible? or am I missing something?

We make loads of plates everyday and have used the laser printer system since it came out about six years ago. We have templates made up for all sizes in Flexisign. It would be very simple in Corel, Just set the page size to the actual plate size and add in a border. Set the sizes in the printer software and off you go. As Peter said the font is new Charles Wright and you can get this as a two font 3d effect. Things like carbon are just made up from different fills. What printer do you have ?.

Yes supposedly it does but I have made a spreadsheet and hand-written form to keep a digital and handwritten copy (just incase) 🙂

    WHY?
if you bought the kit, just type out the numbers, enter the details, and hit the button,
cant understand why you want to change things from a simple procedure to something more complex, just for a number plate that is only for pin money?

    WHY?

Well I just don’t want Mr DVLA turning up and requesting information and the database has gone missing etc. Its only a little backup paperwork copy. Like the good old days. 🙂

    Fair comment.

I’m just looking into the templates but you might be right, I will get frustrated with it. 🙂

No need to use the software just get some forms printed for the customer to fill out. Thats all thats required by law. They have to be kept for three years.
