If it feeds the radiator then it has to be coolant. Otherwise could it be the transmission fluid tank?

    Hi Phill,

I had another look and it goes to a thing that looks a bit like an alternator and has a belt connected…is this likely to be for transmission and do you get different types of fluid…Thank You 😀

It could also be for power steering. Trace the pipes to see if they go to the steering rack otherwise it must be for the transmission. Don’t know about fluid types though – best to speak to an automotive parts supplier.

It will most likely be your power steering reservoir. If the fluid inside is redish in colour then that’s what it is. If so then any ATF or power steering fluild will be fine for topping up.
It won’t be coolant as the expansion bottles are normally clear plastic and have pressure caps on. The one in your photo is a normal cap.

Thanks…..I did notice that the plastic gauge connected to the cap said hot/cold as opposed to max/min.

i have a light on that looks like a handbrake like which can go off when I go round a roundabout.

    Thanks Again 😀

    Hi Andrew

If it has Hot/Cold on it, it is definitely power steering fluid. Top up to Hot mark when engine is hot, cold mark when cold….
Brake light on dash coming on when turning sounds like low brake fluid level…

    Cheers
