Nice Simple Lightbox
Posted by Paul Humble on November 6, 2008 at 4:06 pmI did my first lightbox today, I was a little worried that the ju jitsu figure wouldnt stand out on the white background but I think its worked okay.
Comments and criticism welcome.

good one for a first attempt.
As a tip for future reference, instead of trying to perfectly inset the red into the black border (impossible – there’s always some mis-alignment…and looks terrible if the vinyl moves or shrinks) make the inside lettering slightly bigger for an overlap to block out all of the light – or make a feature of it by making a white ‘halo’ of a couple of mm.

Cheers guys, Dave its the first time ive tried to actually inset the red, normally id just cut the black as a solid block and lie the red ontop.
Your dead right about the light showing through, it does spoil it slightly. The idea of making it a feature is good one.

Did you use translucent or solid vinyl? The red looks as though it might be ordinary vinyl from the image.

Its just solid vinyl, it was just a cheapy job for next door and he told me to just use what I had in stock. It was also a second hand light box that he supplied.
