    That could be the courier
Lots of couriers around London turn up in the evening for ‘home’ deliveries
knowing folk will be at home

If you know they are scheduled at that time its not bad
You can get on with life and work
On the other hand if you’ve been waiting in all day without a clue its not funny

Next day service i would expect to get it before lunch, between 5 & 6 is a joke id call that a 2day service,i would tell what ever company your dealing with they need to find another courier.

When in business for a next day delivery to be any use it has to be there by mid afternoon.

There isn’t much that is more frustrating than waiting all day for a delivery to arrive 5 minutes before you are going home. Apart from waiting 2 hours for an engineer to come and look at an access platform when he is literally 10 minutes down the road 👿 😕

Was talking to the Interlink(can’t remember their new name) guy the other day, he was saying that there is such a huge increase in online buying that his run has been massively stretched, they used to deliver to me around 12 or 1pm but now it’s more likely to be 5 or 6.
I also notice other couriers dropping stuff for me in the local hotel, they don’t have the time to do individual drops. There will be other packages there for other businesses. (Not very satisfactory)

well to be honest ive never had any probs with this vinyl company before. its always been delivered at a reasonable time .but ive just notice this last couple of times ive received a tex to say your parcel would arrive between 5 & 6 as you rightly say guys i dont really class that as next day .A couple of years ago (mabe a bit more) i was asked to help a friend out who subbed to a well know courier company . He had his own van but due to illness asked if i could do it for a week providing it was ok with main courier. i have to say its a nightmare !! i was turning up with stuff on a pallet that the company didnt own a forklift to take stuff off . so i do have a bit of sympathy for the guys at the spearhead the logistics can be a disaster . Having said that i still want MY stuff at a reasonable time next day !!!! 🙂

Sorry Brian but I think you are being a bit unfair, most couriers if not all deliver up to about 6 or 7 in the evening as standard & if that isn’t to your liking then you can always upgrade to a pre noon or earlier service but that obviously costs you more money.
Someone has to be at the wrong end of the delivery run, just a shame for you that you don’t live at the start of the run.
Some companies offer more than one courier company when you buy so might be worth asking for a different courier to see if the stuff arrives any earlier or if that’s not an option ask how much more a priority service is.

Some online services provide a tier system

    Before 9pm
    Before 1:00pm
    Next day
    etc

    and its priced accordingly

well in that case martin perhaps they should add "evening" to there service as i feel if its that late it might as well be next day . on there site they have an option of carriers they use i paid £7.00 odds which was not the cheapest for next day . ive had experience before of paying for" before noon" .in most cases it works.. but only just .When it is wat late ive been offered the cost of the delivery back which is ok but doesnt really cover you for a let down customer such is life

We will have to agree to differ on this Brian but if it’s a case of getting work done for a customer you shouldn’t really be gambling on getting a delivery early enough to get the job done in my opinion anyway. Couriers offer both pre noon & pre 9 o’clock services & customers should understand that if they want work done at such short notice then they are going to have to pay more for it. The extra cost of the delivery should be the very least you are adding to the price of the job, realistically you should also be charging them more for your time otherwise they start to think you are at their beck & call everytime they need something doing.

I think you have point there Martin
Why are we the ones running around like headless chickens, trying to meet a deadline, because of someone else’s oversight, forgetfulness or unrealistic expectations

I say it because I always seem to be doing last minute after thoughts of others
