I thought I start the thread to see how we got on as we return to work

I have just spent the last 3-4 hours cleaning, replacing a pump and sorting out the JV3. Many problems with dried ink on wiper gearing, pump wasn’t sucking and a missing metal plate. Now all working again.

I did come in last on 27th and gave it a capping station wipe and a print.

How did you get on with your printers? I am interested to know

Grenadier now almost 5 years old, switched to a new biodegradable ink at the beginning of year after running the machine on activasol for nearly 4 years. never ever flushed the machine for a holiday break, just came in after a few days and run some sample prints, quick clean and thats that.
one set of heads replaced in the whole time…
andrew came in and run some photo prints onto vinyl and they came out perfecto-moondo the first go. 😀

Did a simple clean on our JV33 and it’s all fine.

We left our JV3 from 23rd Dec until 29th. Came in to run a little job and it
went first time, with no cleaning needed.

    Solara Ion (UV flatbed)
Last printed on the 24th Dec, came in over Christmas and did a quick print to ensure it wasnt left idle for too long. Came in today and it printed perfectly fine after a 10 min pre print run clean.

Also found a bird trapped in the art dept. No clue how it got in there, but scared the crap outta me in the dark as it looked like a bat flying at me 😀

    No probs with our Cadet.

Closed ours down on the 17th and restarted today.

Methinks Dave didn’t shut it down right? :lol1:

Came in every 3-4 days just to run a head clean / test print as I know from bitter experience that if left for 4-5 days (in the summer) and it’s going to take me two days solid to get the heads clear again!

    (Cadet Activsol)

Had some slight degradation on my blk/cyan as capping station wasn’t sealing 100%…but a bit of fettling this morning and all is well…carry a spare anyway just in case.

Ran a load of print off today inc. a 4×1.2 banner that’s almost entirely solid red & black without so much as a hiccup. Whew!

JV3 dosen’t shutdown… it auto caps on every head pass

basically i cleaned the heads only a month ago, (by that I take the head carriage out) and clean around then to make a good seal. On the newer JV3 you have a section to the left of the machine that you unscrew and clean the heads looking up.

Good, so we had a good start to the year with printers, except me lol

No problem with my 160s. 3 weeks break and printing is perfect without any pre-cleaning.

My Grenadier with Activasol inks last used on 26th December, loaded media hit test print and all nozzles clear and ready to print after approx 11 days idle havng just been left on standby.

    Rob,

I am also interested in the question from Kevin a couple above this one about what inks you are now using not that i have any issues with Activasol just i fear a price increase is on the way and would be very interested in the price of your inks per litre.

    Regards

    Russell.

The inks i am using are actually a bit of a product test on new inks set to be released in the UK very soon along with another solvent ink at the same time, "i think". it is coming up on a year since i started using them and cannot fault them.
The inks are a biodegradable ink, so are a Greener option than the majority of inks on the market just now and are kinder on the machine, so to speak.
there will be a deal for UKSG members on both brands in litre bottles, 440ml and 220ml carts. Prices and details i am expecting to know mid January…
    will keep you all posted.

Will wait with baited breath as said i’m looking to move away from the ITL inks i’m using at the moment due to issues that have risen recently
