Million times better phill, well done mate…
This is more just self-preferences than constructive criticism as such
Horizontal navigation:
About the right signs – I would change to “About us”
there is also a horizontal band midway. I thought it a divider at first… I think best without the line in the middle.
the pictures on right would be best the “about us” pictures rather than gallery. I would do away with the gallery and make the pcitures on that page about the right signs, rather than your work.our process, maybe make “Order Process”? in fact, not sure on the wording/title for that…
I think having a process page is very good. I truelly believe an idiots guide is always the answer.
I would go as much to say make it much more in depth.
At the bottom of the about us page the horizontal band is level with bottom of page were other pages have some black showing, which does look better as the band acts as a footer image.“Contact us” again, self-preference. But think actual “text” showing your full postal address and phone number even below your contact form is important. I think it is fine for online companies only, but let’s say I wanted to pop over and see you today. Ide need an address, or post code for sat nav. You do have a Google map but it’s not giving me directions or a place to head for. If that makes sense?
That said, yes, it is on the homepage at the bottom. But I did over look that initially. It’s never too much duplicating info on pages. Again, just self-preference phill..
Gallery
looks good and easy to suss at a glance. But I think the large picture on left should show the work.
Instead of showing a big picture with thumb nails. When click thumb nails a pop-up appears rather than in the big view box. Also need to remember that allot of folk have pop-up blockers.
This is something I had to go against with the Sign Toolbar. When folk find a source on the toolbar it navigates you away from UKSB and too the suppliers page. I had the option of a pop-up new window
but decided against it for this reason. (pop-up blockers)
I would also have a dedicated page for the gallery and add that to the horizontal navigation.
Again, its fine and looks good having thumbnails here and there randomly showing work as a sort of teaser to that section. i.e. you click picture and it takes you to gallery page. But I think a gallery section where you can easily and at “your convenience” add pictures on a daily/weekly/monthly basis is important as it keeps the work fresh and constantly updates the site with very little effort. It’s difficult to update your site with news and text content. But easy to add a picture. Because you have added a picture. It’s easy to say a few words below the picture to tell the customer what’s involved should they want similar.
Social networking sites:
I would consider adding a band of social networking icons for folk to “like” certain content.
when a customer gets a nice vehicle done. Take the picture in front of them, even if you already have done. Tell them it will be on your website in the evening and ask them to “LIKE” their own vehicle. When they do. It appears on their own facebook, twitter and more pages. And introduces your company instantly to hundreds of folk they know, which will often be local folk to you.
I know if I had just had a great job done on my van, ide want to share it on facebook etc and if all you do is hit an icon and its done… easy! and how much in adverts etc would we pay for hundreds of local people to look at our advert or website?maybe even credit card icons under your number in header image just to show you accept them. "if you accept them"
on about us page… icons showing what associations your with. i.e. FSB, even UKSG? doesn’t need to be links or anything. just badges to show who your company is connected with.Anyway… im rambling here now. Hope you haven’t fell asleep! Lol
as I said, this isn’t so much criticism. Mainly personal preference. -
Hi Phil

Other than that – wot Rob said 😀

I tried to reply but couldn’t so here goes.
I like it a lot, one thing I didn’t like at first was the red text in the link tabs but once clicked I think they went grey which looked much better, other than that I really like it.
cheers

Hi Phill,
looks great! a new modern website, and it loaded very quick.
The car looks good but maybe you could have other amazing work you have done. So effectively a slideshow of a range of work. But without using flash as that apparently does not work on iphones, ipads etc.
On my website they did it without. (the rotating banner) and that is apparently no flash, although im not too sure about all that sorta thing!regards
