I have 2 different customers wishing for these to be lettered.

Has anyone lettered one of these with vinyl graphics?
Every single line and contour contradicts everything else!
They maybe a pretty shape but in my eyes these are made for full wraps only.
One of these customers wanted Magnetics but to be honest you cannot put anything which resembles a square or a rectangle as it just looks squint.

For a purpose designed commercial vehicle Ford need their arse kicked.

Doing one next week. Not looking forward to it.

Got to re do part of a Peugeot Expert later as that’s another new type van that has no straight lines on it and the customer is adamant a bit is not right.

design & apply it based on standing back and what LOOKS right. There are many vans out there without any straight / parallel lines…case of picking an line and stick to it more or less.

"made for full wraps only" sean …hmm i dont think ford or any other company think of the signwriter /maker ever were way down on the list

grrrrr ive never forgiven scammel for the crusader…..in ma old signwriting days nothing but metal fins on the cab 😀 😀 . nope they think of fuel efficiency ….load capacity…production price …competitors…so sadly were way down the list …probally next to the… "can we get to labs and a collie to sit up the front in our van

LOL Scammel Crusader, now their is a proper machine.
I don’t think the Scammel would be to bad comparing to the Ford Transit.
At least it was (I was going to say designed) drawn up by a guy who only had two angles, 0 and 90 degrees.

On the Transit what looks like a level line isn’t.
I used to think Vauxhalls Astravan was bad, but I could forgive that as it was originally a car design.

I just looked it up online – I havent seen one for real yet.
What a good looking van! I want one!
But I see what you mean about the lines.
Stay horizontal with that, and ignore the angle, I’d say.
The channels dont look too deep though, which is a good thing.

Looks a smart van but i see what you mean about lines everywhere. I would fit using the bottom of the sill as my line.

Yeah we’ve done a new transit custom. Part wrap on the front end and cut text / printed logo for the sides and rear, used an impact graphics template for the design and you’re right nothing is level!

The lines aren’t even parrallel so nothing looks right! Even the customer was puzzled and not very impressed with the new shape transit.

Yes, thanks Ewan, do other manufacturers have a page with similar measurement details~? They should have 🙂

First time I have ever seen a manufacturer do that but then again I don’t look for these things, generally just go from the Impact disk.
Don’t think ford have done it in the past so maybe this is the start of something new.
The van seems to have some quite nice features like the gap under the passengers seat for longer lengths of materials but the outside just looks to much like a lot of other vans already on the road.

My Customer decided he wanted magnetic panels for the sides and rear!!!
To be honest it looks pathetic.
The only good thing is it is up to him to decide what makes them look straight.
    Absolute useless for vinyl graphics.
The Ford signwriters guide is basically a vehicle outline and only helps to make you realise how bad they will be to letter.
