  • New to textile vinyl and need help please?

    Hi,

I have just bought a Puma II cutter and got some textile PU vinyl to start making Tees. Problem is, when I heat press the stuff it does not peel. I have tried all settings, heat, time and pressure and still no luck, if I do pull hard enough the thing tears and I only get half my design onto the garment. This has happened with all colours apart from gold, which seems to be better.

Can anyone help, am I doing something wrong or is it a dodgy bit of vinyl?

    Thanks guys,
    Dave Payne

Does it say to remove backing hot or cold?

If your trying to remove to soon/late this is what can happen.

As Sharon says…. some materials are meant for hot peel and some for cold peel check with your supplier.

make sure the material you have bought, is for the garments you are using.

I used material made for nylon garments, on cotton. The result was a pain to peel.

check how much pressure you are busing to cut it. You only require just enough.

Try using a scalple to tease the design away from the carrier.

    Thanks for your help guys!

I did follow the instructions and even played witht the settings, but still no joy. I now wonder whether the supplier sent the wrong type. I have sent an example of the garment and vinyl back to the supplier so they can do their own tests.

I will let you know what what happens…

The PU material we have has a sticky carrier (ENVIRO). This normally is a
HOT peel. However, most materials have a COLD peel. The material from
Xpres is a cold peel and the one from Vic is a hot peel too. If its not
peeling because the edges are ‘welded’ to the garment, then the reason is
cutting too deep in the Mylar carrier, and/or you are using too much
    pressure with the heat press.

Adjust blade to very lightly score the Mylar (very important) and then check
your heat press for a lighter pressure.
