    Hi Mark,

Just up the road from you!

Great stuff, that’s the type of company car i’d like to have…

Been thinking about getting a VW caravelle,
once the seats are folded you can easily get an 8×4 sheet in.
    Great for fitting.

    Simon.

Saying hello, complete with avatar picture in place and showing us some of you handy work into the bargain..
Great stuff! Your van looks the business..
I am with chalkie on this one.. Can you let us in on how you did this work?
Im a vinyl man myself, so very nosey when I clock something like this…
Did you wrap/print it yourself? What type of vinyl do you use for wrapping and in general.

Look forward to seeing more posts from you mate.. 😉

    Thanks for the interest.
The “van” is in fact a Renault Espace, once the seats are all folded away you can just about sqeeze a 8 x 4 sheet of foamex in the back.
The graphic is a picture of a local beauty spot called Box Hill taken from a local vineyard.
Layed out the job in photoshop using a digital picture of the car as a template (with a magnetic metre rule stuck on for scale)The image files were big , over a gig in size. This was split to print door widths at a time etc to make application easier with a good 5″ overlap just in case.

Job was printed onto graphtec digital cast vinyl with a cast overlaminate.
Printer used was solvent ink re-badged roland from granthams, I think its a eco hi-fi jet.
The windows use contra-vision (****ing expensive!!)

The graphic goes right round the vehicle with the image mirrored on the other side and meeting in the middle of the back window and bonnet, even the roofs done.Fitting was ok because its a pretty square shape.
Took me 3 days to do, it was my first full wrap so took my time.

It brings in loads of work as you cant miss it (unless parked in front of Box hill that is…. it dissapears!)
The way I see it our works vehicles have got to look good. If we cant do a good job on our own vans what customer is gonna have faith in us doing a good job on theirs.

    Thanks again for the welcome.

excellent mate.. thanks for sharing. 😀

something i tend to do with window prints mate…
take, say a 24inch square of white vinyl..
this should cover the window of a van/car. print the digital print on it as normal. take out machine and cover with clear vinyl.
put the print in cutter & increase you knife force a little to compensate for the double layer.
using your software draw a line 24.2 inch wide by 2mm high & array /duplicate it with 2mm spaces all the way up until it reaches the 24 inch mark.
start the cutter cutting the lines, then weed every second line. you end up with the exact same result as the controvision. but the best part is, because you have used lines instead of holes it doesnt hold water in the rain. were the holes in controvision do… that and the fact it hasnt cost you anymore than you pay normaly for vinyl 😉

One problem with your method might be curved screens though.
You can yank contravision around a lot with out noticeable distortion.
Would be hard to keep the lines parallel while stretching around a curve.

    Hello Mark,

Good looking logo and good job on the van/mpv….and welcome to the site, Its a great place to meet and talk shop, as well as being a good place for a few of us ex-pats to keep in touch “back home”.

Likewise my own pick-up and other vehicles, I have, have brought in loads of work through being abit unusual, and being remembered by those seeing them.

Yes you could be right mate.. Saying that I used it on the rear of a hackney cab window and it worked spot on.. But I know where you’re coming from.
The controvision… do you not get much bother with it lifting once laid. & how much can you tug/stretch it?
When I used it I had bother with areas of it puckering up. Even though I laid it dry. I don’t mean right away.. But a few days later when the rain comes on. Bits here and there lifted… few weeks later it stayed down and didn’t come back off to this day. But it does hold a lot of water and makes rear window hard to see through in the rain..
    Do you find this yourself?
