New laser, do I need old inkjet
Posted by Ian Muir on August 13, 2009 at 5:25 pmHi
Just got our new oki A3 laser set up, prints lovely…. can I ditch our old epson r265 do you think… my thoughts yes cos if we tend not to use it then surely jets will clog pretty quickly

i fill mine with envelopes (which i use daily) and keep it for that purpose only.
of course, if you already have a printer to do that, then send it to me and i’ll look ater it for you!!! lol

That’s a very good idea Hugh…… with new equipment coming soon I expect I should be target mailing pretty heavily…. but if I don’t get round to it then of course you may have the dear old epson…

if its any help i pre print invoices on the laser then use a old epson to over print the the details,
if you are buying toner (not on a contract) then think about coverage. there 15000 page toner is not a normal reality.

ain’t that the truth, I use mine a reasonable amount, mainly invoices, proofs (and some tmt paper work) and i’ve done about 4 or 5 carts already, not cheap. wish i could find em cheaper as need to replace two more soon – like already!)

hugh as you use TMT stuff i think cheap carts are out of the question.
one of my A3 lasers uses refills from bay and fine but there is a difference.

a difference in the toner? surely it’s just toner!????
not that i’ve yet used bay refills etc.

Apparently not Hugh.. they had a big problem at TMT I believe of late cos toners were being made to be more ‘eco-friendly’, colours (especially yellows, were not remaining fast after washing cos all the acetyls or alkyds or sumthing had been taken out of toners…
