NEW INITIATIVES ANNOUNCED FOR SIGN UK 2007

Following the major piece of independent industry research carried out after Sign UK 2006, which canvassed the views of over 1,500 visual communications specialists, a number of new features have been introduced for 2007.

The focus of Sign UK is no longer simply for the sign industry to discover the latest technology available but also to meet peers, see live demonstrations and exchange information and advice. Sign makers will be able to compare and contrast the latest technology but ways to build your business and how to get the most from existing materials and equipment will be in the spotlight.

Seeing live demonstrations of equipment and materials in action is one of the major benefits of exhibitions like Sign UK and much in demand according to the research. In response organisers Faversham House Group (FHG) has introduced a sign making demonstration trail around the show. It will highlight exhibiting companies who will be hosting live demonstrations on their stands and provide a timetable to allow visitors to plan their day. Whether it’s a brand new piece of equipment, or new applications for an existing kit, Sign UK provides the perfect opportunity to see it in action and also assess how it performs against its competition.

Sign UK also provides visitors with the ideal opportunity to catch up with colleagues throughout the industry, exchange ideas and to discuss recent advances. It’s the meet for sign makers in the UK. FHG are looking to introduce a brand new feature, which will be located right in the heart of the show, to provide the perfect meeting place for sign makers. An at-show networking area would act as an advice hub as well as an opportunity for sign makers to rest weary exhibition feet- keep an eye on http://www.signuk.com for more details.

The free software workshops at Sign UK have always been incredibly popular with their mix of practical advice and tips and tricks attracting large audiences from all corners of the industry. Adobe and Corel return in 2007 and are set to deliver sessions even more targeted to the needs of sign making professionals. Feedback from the industry called for drop in ‘surgery’ sessions aimed at solving those griping issues faced on an individual basis so that is exactly what will be available next year.

Sign UK also provides visitors with the perfect opportunity to obtain samples of new materials from many of the industry’s leading suppliers. A task like this would be daunting under any other circumstances, but with well over 200 companies on show, many of whom are using the show to launch new products, a day at Sign UK can save many weeks of painstaking research. After the show these samples can be kept, used and referred to as required and as often as needed. FHG is encouraging exhibitors to provide useful and relevant samples, and, via the show website, will highlight exhibiting companies that will be offering this service as well as unique and impressive deals to be had at the show.

Announcing the new initiatives Exhibition Director Catherine Iredale said: “All of these new ideas are in response to the feedback from our recent market research. It is clear that Sign UK visitors find the show of real benefit in sourcing new materials, equipment and suppliers, so these special features will make this task even easier. We are also looking at developing more seminar streams and new focus areas over coming months, so watch this space for more show news!”

With more going on than ever before it’s recommended that sign makers check http://www.signuk.com regularly to discover the latest news on launches (several huge ones in the pipeline for 2007) and full information on features and the full list of exhibiting companies.
