I will not discuss the most satisfying, flavoursome, delicious, nectar in a glass with somebody who drinks Breezers!!!! 😀

I’ll bring you for a real pint of it here one day and then tell me you don’t like it. I watched the barmaid pull a pint of it in the NEC at SignUk and I almost got sick looking at the finished result never mind tasting it!!! 😮 😮

Gotta tell ya Harry, only tried the Guiness once, it took me days to get my tongue working properly, and to convince my taste buds I was not drinking something from the cleaning cupboard 😳

Must be an acquired taste I guess

Lets not talk about the Water melon Breezers either 😕

Guinness in a can is just wrong, period.
The only place I ever had a Guinness that was halfway palatable was across the pond, and that was draft.
Takes like a cup of coffee and a can of Coke mixed into beer.
Last St. Patty’s Day (or maybe the one before) my son bought a case of the cans, it was $40 and I think we still have one in the bottom of the fridge that nobody will dare drink.
    Love….Jill

Rob obviously has a sweet tooth, and as Shane said it’s an aquired taste. The only way is a decently poured pint with a liitle blackcurrent and then you wean yourself off the blackcurrent.
The only decent pint I every got near the NEC was in O’Niells (I think) in Birmingham city centre…….. they even did the shamrock motif in the head. Nice stuff.

I like Guinness – It’s a great drink. But years ago when I worked at S&N Breweries we produced a beer called Gillespies. This was a very dark Ale with a white creamy head just Like Guinness. The Beer was purged with nitrogen and had a fabulous white creamy head (just like Guinness) except it tasted better! Much Sweeter than Guinness.

The brand was dropped shortly after S&N merged with Courage. Which was a tragedy as far as I was concerned. Gillespies was a fine beer that only survived for about five years before commercial interests wiped it from the market.

If you watch Coronation street – they used to have a Gillespies font in the Rovers Return,. It was still there for years after the brand had been dropped from the market – but I think it is gone now.

Jill, all them irish cream drinks are recent inventions and concoctions to imitate irish coffee, which itself didnt exist before the 60’s
I don’t remember who invented it though

Well, they might call it Irish coffee but, in my experience, it is the Belgians who are the true masters at making it.

Here’s one of them trying to teach me how to do it properly. Her best teaching method was to make me drink the failures. (cheesy)

remember the slogan for Guinness Light

‘They Said it couldn’t be done!’

Some wag in Dublin went round the billboards with a marker adding to the signs…..’and they were right!’

Dunno why they don’t just invent a new drink……none of their variables has ever worked….although I heard once that it is a huge tax write off for them.
