    Hi All

Can anybody recommend a neon supplier? I need one made up for a customer and not done them before so hoping for a good recommendation on a good company. (I know there are some on the toolbar but looking for a recommendation please)

    cheers

Warren, sorry can’t help with a supplier as it’s probably a bit far but do you know if your customer has planning permission for neon ? Reason I ask is because round this way the council don’t seem to like it at all and try to have it removed every chance they get.

    Hi Martin

It’s for indoors so no permission required.

    cheers

I use both ‘7day signs’ and occasionally ‘direct neon’ BUT, shipping is always an issue with neon. Most suppliers really don’t like shipping it via courier. I always get it picked up or dropped off as these companies are fairly local to me.

Warren, even though it is indoors it may still require permission, have a look at the advertising regulations just to be on the safe side.

The problem is our local councils like to try and control every aspect of our lives.

Often planning is a grey area. Half the time they overstep their authority and they need to be constantly challenged as many of their "decisions" are unjustified and are often even illegal. If we don’t challenge them and give them a hard time over their decision making they will run riot.

Phill, I think you are right and one of my faults previously was just to accept what they said even if I thought they were wrong. One customer had an application for a fibre optic sign turned down because according to the planning department it would be a distraction to drivers. The shop was in the middle of an indoor shopping centre so they must have been referring to those sit on sweeping carts !!!
