I just created the Nascar driver Tony Stewart’s number 20

    http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/search/ … ny+stewart

It is 3 colors, black, orange and white all on top of each other. The problem was that i had to align every layer by eye. I saw Robs demo
https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=92439#92439 and he has a line that he uses to line up the different layers. I need to know how to create that line so it cuts on every color.

I tried in illustrator cs2 and flexisign pro. I am able to use the rectangle tool and drag it across the bottom of the logo so it is like 10 inches long and about 3/4″ down. The problem is when i try to cut it I only get that line on one of the colors…

Please help. I know this is basic stuff but I am only at this for a few days!

    Thanks

    Hi Ed

copy the line for as many colours you have ( so for that logo 3 lines and 3colours) and change the colours to suit, and stack them on top of each other ( in Signlab u can tell the copy wher eto go ie: in the same place).

when u cut your colours now you will have the lines as well in teh right colours, then when u lay up all you have to do is align them on top of each other and it’s sorted.

What i do sometimes is make the lines into a L shape in 2 oposing corners so you can line up a bit easier.

    Hope you understand my ramblings.

Thanks for your reply, my problem is that I am using FlexiSign Pro. I also have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Illustrator CS 2. I do not have sign lab. I have no idea how to use the software that I have at all.

I would appreciate a beginner step by step in any of those programs so that I can learn it using the image above. ( the link to the logo on my original post)

    Thanks!

Ed, sounds like you got a steep learning curve to me… I actually started by learning Corel Draw version 3 about say 15 years ago, I had a little video to watch and then stressed over the whole printing process. Took me a good month by studying manuals, corel examples and so forth.

anyway, there are a few places you can go for watching training online, we spoke about a few here : – https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.p … t=training
    Cheers

if you only have one line under the No 20 & u r in flexi just click on the line to highlight it & then click on the orange colour on the bottom colour bar then cut the No 20 & the bar in that colour. Then click the underline & then click on the black on bottom colour bar & cut in black.
do the same for the 3rd colour.

Easier to do as Paul says click on the underline, go to edit on top tool bar then click duplicate, then repeat edit / duplicate. You then have 3 underlines, just a case of making all 3 different colours as the No 20. Put all 3 on top of each other.

PS throw out all the other progs & concentrate on learning Flexi then you will find you don’t need any other progs

I think what you need is the registration mark tool. The registration will cut with any color you pick. If I could figure out how to put of pic of this, I would.

Do a search on Ebay for Flexisign. There is an auction for the two training CDs. They are extremely helpful in learning the program.
