  • Need help with a T shirt design

Posted by Steve Underhill on April 19, 2006 at 5:39 pm

I dont have a Fast T jet and think these will need screen printing, he doesnt want transfers and they are to go on black shirts. Its for a tattoo shop in Germany and to be perfectly honest its not something Ive screen printed before.
Looking how intricate the design is it would need a superfine mesh but not sure how many screens I could do it with.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers

    A nice dot count and you could use 1 screen 77 or 90 T mesh, then overprint 1 screen 77 / 52 T

Could even try 1 screen 77T mesh, Print / Flash, Print / Flash, Print

Make sure your stroke and flood are nice and slow, one point to remember, most prints like this aren’t super white.

Ps you dont want to get a Fast T jet EVER OR EVEN EVER

    hope this helps Mike

    Thanks for the reply Mike,
Im assuming if I were to try plastisol (thats what he wants as a finish)
I would have to reduce it a bit to get it through the mesh?

    Hi Steve
No need to reduce the ink, one tip I would give you is to place your ink on top of the dryer about an hour before you start printing, will make it nice and usable.

If I was doing this job, I would really go with 1 screen a 77 I would print, flash ,print ,flash print if its only 40 shirts I wouldn’t go 2 screens.

Looks like quite an easy design to work with, make sure you dip your screen after exposure for a good 15 mins and don’t be afraid to use the power washer to get the best out of the design.
