I have been into the Metaza engraving since May this year and all seems to be going well.

I have been thinking of adding another string to the bow and since moving into an indoor market I have repeatedly been asked to engrave many varied items such as jewelery, lighters, rings, bracelets, glass Etc.

Also the local golf club has asked what I could do for them.

So rather than create a new market I thought I would turn my hand engraving.

I have priced the GEM RX Gift engraver. I have also got some info on Rolands EGX 300. Not wanting to spend much more than £5000 or so which machine would be best for my needs that would allow me to offer good service to my customers?

I would also like to break into the coporate market. Would another manchine be better than these I have considered?

    Thanks

i dont know anything about the metaza, but have you considered a laser machine?
i think this sort of thing is what rodney gold does but on a much bigger scale. he has several lasers, printers etc etc and does very well to say the least.

maybe search back on rodneys posts as i am sure it will help in various ways.

    edit-
ive just checked and there is a laser machine avilable in the discount store.
    maybe worth an call?

(just for the record- uksb makes nothing as a result of sales within this section of uksb)

    Thanks Robert

I have now (I believe) got my selection down the the U-Marq Compact engraving machine.

I am hoping this will be a purchase that will last me well….

If you or anyone has warning comment then please do let me know asap

I bought my first machine a year ago, just after doing the rounds at Trophex (this weekend at the NEC). I did tons of comparisons on the new stuff and decided I would not offer a cylindrical engraving service.

In the end I went for a second hand Dahlgren Wizard 2000 ST. Working area max width is 12" (300mm) but with a little working out you can feed material through the machine. Did a reverse engraved sign 9"x18" that I conveniently split down the middle.

    have a look at http://www.ronamachines.co.uk

As for the Metaza I think its a bit of a Bling gimmik. I had a key ring sample made from a graphic I supplied, out put was Ok but nothing special, lasted about 8 months before being scratched beyound recognition.

    Cheers
