  • Need a print cable for Grenadier

Posted by Adrian Neill on September 16, 2013 at 8:24 am

    Morning everyone.

We’ve got a Uniform Grenadier (Re-badged Roland SC-540). We’ve always connected to this through our network at work, but we’re changing this now and want to connect it to a dedicated PC via the printer cable input.

Does anyone know where I can get a suitable printer cable that’ll run this printer ?

I’ve attached a picture of the printer port …….

a old fashoned printer cable works but from experience its not fast enough for full printing use.
its used to update the firmware etc.

Try Colourgen (official Mutoh UK parts Supplier) or Digiprint

posibly the most expencive way to buy one.

forgot to say that if its a newish computer the computer will probably not have the port unless you add a card,

Why can’t you use the network port and connect it direct that way?

Cheers guys for the suggestions … will give them a ring.

Hi Steve. We’ve run out of network ports. The new dedicated PC needs the port that the printer is currently plugged into to connect to the network itself, therefore the printer would need to be plugged in via the parallel port now. When we installed the network we never thought we’d run out of ports …. eek !!

Had the same problem I just added a network card, PC runs on the network and independent card runs printer. It is the best solution and only takes minutes to set up

    Hi Adrian

    Well done on your ride

We added an extra network can to the rip pc for about £10 to run our xr640 much quicker and keeps the network clear as well. The computer shop down lakes road is good if they don’t have it they will get it in next day

Absolutely correct. You can’t send the data quick enough through a parallel port so it will hesitate on every pass while it waits for more data.

As mentioned, buy a 2nd network car and a good quality crossover cable (Lindy for example) and run a second ethernet connection to it.
