need a little help with design please?
hi..
got a call from a customer who needs a new sign on their building..its approx 16ft wide by 2ft high panel, foamex or Di-bond most likely..
their on a tight budget so raised letters are out..all I’ve been given is the 2 words for the name of the place..

its a training centre for young adults with learning difficulties..
they have no logos or artwork to work from and are open to suggestions but i can’t seem to think of anything that would help make it more interesting than just plain textany suggestions would be appreciated..

My partner is a care manager at a home for adults with learning diffuculties, i’ve also worked there myself in the past, i cant think of anything like a logo as such, and i guess you have to be a little careful what you use (political correctness and all that malarky),
My partner has just said that on their website (being built at the mo), one of the residents, a very artistic chap with autism, drew a logo which has been, or will be digitised, and used for the company logo,
perhaps you could put the idea to the customer, i’m sure they’d love to have the input from the service users incorporated into the sign, and it would make the sign that much more personal to those who use it, you could suggest that they make it like a small competition, asking for simple drawings that reflect what is done within the centre, you can then digitise the design and incorporate it,
just a thought !

as for the idea of the sketch from one of the people in the centre 😕
the staff loved the idea but pointed out if we use one persons drawing it could upset some of the others that their picture wasn’t selected…and that’s the last thing we want to do ….so we are back to just text..
