is it the colour, its a sorta grey/blue
or is it the solid band at the left of the button, or everything.. :lol1:my feeling on the old design is it was a bit washed, the overall look of the homepage with all the images… navagation isnt apparent enough… hard to explain…
anyone else got views on this. its not set in stone and if it a no goer ill redo it. not a big deal. 😀

Leave it for a while, see how many notice, if you get a lot of negative comments, you can allways change it.
But…. dont do it in a custard yellow, it makes a lot of people feel sick.

must say I’m not really fussed on it myself. Too much of the block style, with all these blue bands on everything. Makes me feel like I should be in uniform or something.
Mind you, really not much help because I can’t think of anything better, apart from a more textured button.
The white edges on the smaller buttons are lost, and makes it look undefined. Know what I mean?
I’m with Lynn tho, the majority should rule…… as long as I’m the majority 😳
The ‘badges’ (gold,bronze, silver) look a bit like war medals don’t you think, or flying insignias? I’d remove the blue band from them as a start…..
Perhaps if the blue were a bit brighter?

As far as the colour goes I think I prefer a paler shade of blue, the dark tends to draw my eyes to it and not to the content of the page.

i think the blue is too dark also, i basicaly colour matched from one of the new membership pages, but when i have applied the blend i think i have some how darkened it. im messing around with the nav buttons just now…
my thoughts are same as shanes on the regiment sorta feel, all stripes etc 😕 :lol1: -
yeh i have to agree also….i thought i would leave it for a bit, ive came back in and i dont like it now, its too over powering 😕 😀

Well I like the new layout, not sure on the colours yet.
I think the new topic button looks a bit weak with no border.

Are the delete buttons a good idea? posts could get very confusing if people start to delete things, will it say if a post has been deleted?

nick, if you look bottom right when in a forum some let you delete posts, some dont, but I think the delete button goes away as soon as a reply is made..

yeh changed it mate, must only have been in this forum.
this is in place for various reasons, but main one was people causing bother, then deleting their posts and denying knowledge. by that i mean… (this maybe before you joined) a certain Mr J. Hulme of Outline Signs & Graphics AKA Outline. would give people greif, slag their work, whatever he felt… once it had kicked off, he would delete his post before mods could see it. but damage was done. i altered settings, but then he would do same, but by editing. hes since been asked to leave the building 😉 :lol1:there has been lots of other similar type things happen so its now just easier to run things if delete isnt there.

damn right, I’ve been the admin/moderator on a few of these type of boards, get the same thing all the time, you just end up taking away all the “privileges” and only the people who actually have anything good to say stay on.

it will give you a better listing of posts that you have missed, than the one showing last 24hrs.sorry about the 24hrs link though 😕 :lol1:

I’m just giving you a hard time. 😀
I do like the view posts since last visit, but if you accidently close your browser before looking at all the posts the ones you have not seen will not come up, which isn’t an issue with the 24hour one.
I liked the old color better on the topic bars. Also, my eye keeps going right to everyone’s membership status now. It’s probably only because it is new, but it does draw my attention.

the topic bar, yeh i liked the old one too, sorta thought it was a bit bright but better. this ones too dark. ill have to make a new fill for it, probably change it again tomorrow night. 😀

OK……. my hangover must still be bad ‘cos I can’t see big changes…. I’ve spotted the UKSG & gold thingies that look different…. what else am I missing? The debate on the colours …. has it been changed back cos again I can’t see anything much different.
Or do I need an eye test 😮
Or am I still asleep this morning? (sleep)
Or perhaps I haven’t sobered up since Saturday night (puppy-eyes)

just an idea for the main forum layout
some areas cannot be accessed by me as i dont have special priveledges or summat
could these main forum buttons have something extra on them so i know what i can / cannot acces (colour change / icon)
i get forgetfull with all the different boards here and end up just clicking thro them all, and its slightly frustrating to not get in some
