  • Myself looking for alternative employment

    Hello all
I was considering not posting due to the fact my currently employer might see this, but as I have met so many people in the last 3-4 years it might be easier to post here and to see if anyone at this moment could do with a hand at their company. Also I may ask for this post to be removed next week so this up for a few days at least.

I have been a sign makers assistant or Technical Manager for about 3-4 years, my main role is to oversea any problems with the IT side of the business which includes software, hardware, machinery or job management, I work in a employed freelance state but with the troubled times and spending an awful lot of time dedicated to the company I work for, I now need to see what other opportunities could be had as currently cannot see that my current position is rewarding enough. I have been involved with a lot of business decisions and work closely with the Managing Director. I am however feel that I need to look at other opportunities and move away a little and perhaps seek a job in some kind of supporting role.

I have been a t-shirt/sticker printer for silk screen, so familiar with all the silk screen processes.

I have a significant IT experience, spent most of my life inside a computer box and used to be a self employed trouble shooter.

I have software development experience with Visual Studio/ASP.NET and VBA applications, recently I have made utilities to improve a sign makers experience in Corel Draw and worked on web related job management processing for a team of workers. In the past I have created applications that work similar to in-store retail advertising (TV’s with adverts in shops).

I have worked on 3-4 CNC’s, ones for metal cutting, ones in sign making and ones in a wood workshop. I am familiar with 2D autocad programming and NC CNC code. I have actually been involved with repairing them too.

I have also worked on RIPs, Compose/Harlequin, SHIRAZ and some experience in some other major RIPs, I understand how the colour works and how to linearize a RIP to control colour under different lighting conditions.

I have worked on Xerox Photocopiers and Mimaki printers, as a number of sign makers on this board have a mimaki, I do understand some basic repairs and can troubleshoot printers and print situations.

I have a wealth of experience with Corel Draw mainly, I have known the program since Corel 3, I also understand Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Quark Xpress. I can design but my current colleagues are much better at it then I am, however I do have an eye for what is good and what is not.

I have also used and can setup websites and run IIS and Microsoft Small Business Server 2003, I have a lot of experience with things like Group Policy and Exchange with Outlook.

If anyone feels that have an opportunity and can offer me something more then what I am doing now, then please get in contact with me via PM here or darowland@rocketmail.com

I would like to keep this lo-key at present as I am still employed.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

With the experience and knowledge you always display in your posts on here, I would love to be in a position to be able to offer something.

Have you considered more of a self employed consultant type idea, similar to the trouble shooting you previously done? Though I suppose an employed income is more suitable as any self employed venture takes time to grow(unless you get those six numbers right tomorrow).

    Sorry I’m not much help.
