• my rant for today

Posted by Hugh Potter on February 17, 2006 at 1:36 am

poxy TNT reckoned they tried to deliver to me today,

    lying gits,

no card and no sign of them

, i reckon i should know since i spent half my day running up the garden everytime i heard a van !

i needed material for a job in the morning, so after a fair amount of huffing and puffing down the phone, they agreed that a driver would take it ‘home’, and i could meet him there and collect it,

great, driver not home til 7:30, and he’s twenty mins away, so not only has my delivery cost me twice, but i didnt even start the main part of the job until nearly 9pm !

then…….. because i was rushing, i promptly screwed up the first 2mtrs of white 751 in the cutter (forgot to run it thur before cutting off !) and 2mtrs of floodcoating cos a corner tore off (was cold and ripped off when and edge stuck to worktop and i moved panel without noticing….ggrrrrrrrrr).

    so thats that, finished about 12:30, 3hrs for a 2hr job !

oh yeah, i also trod in dog poo that some lazy git didnt pick up from outside my gate, and guess who didnt notice until the smell got unbearable on a dual carriageway !

TNT have a reputation for that here too Hugh,

I waited in all day for a delivery I had to have for a job next day. It hadn’t come by 4pm so I rang them.

Sorry they said, we came and you were not there.

I had checked my letterbox and there was no card. It fell on deaf ears when I said that I was home all day.

I said to the operator that I’ll get it tomorrow then? She said no, it will be the day after. Goodness knows why. I rang my client and begged to have the job postponed for 3 days. So on the 3rd day, I worked all day in my office with the door open. Still no delivery. Rang again at 1pm and they said it was lost in transit.

I rang my supplier to see if they could help me out and they hand delivered the supplies again and I worked all night to get it done before the new deadline.

TNT delivered the parcel, damaged, 7 days later. No apologies or anything. Fortunately the freight was insured.

I’ve told this story to a few local businesses and they have responded with worse stories than mine, so it must be a ‘tnt’ thing worldwide 😮

Yes I understand your rant and feel for you, but you still did not tell me if you caught any fish.

I noticed that too Russ, of course good fishermen never tell too much incase you find out where he was catching them and beat him to the spot next time 😉

TNT have always let me down. It’s rare to get anything delivered that is undamaged. I’ve complained about it here on many occasions and have written to the company to complain. A representative even called in to see me to smooth things over but I was even less impressed with them after his visit than before. Best thing is to vote with your feet. i.e. never use them. Unfortunately you can not dictate to your suppliers which delivery company they should use – but you can let them know about any problems you have with delivery and maybe if enough people complain they will elect to use another delivery company in future.

I complained to my suppliers over the carrier they were using and they now use a special one just for me!!! I dont live anywhere difficult to find but their main carrier kept insisting they couldnt find me, strange that as I have no problems with other carriers. My suppliers are happy using the one I suggested as they no longer have to try and find where my parcels went to and Im a happy customer. :lol1:
Not mentioning who the dodgy carrier was but Target are the ones who always get my stuff to me on time. I think its down to who does the driving and Im lucky to have a very reliable chap.

All carriers are the same – we are in small village far out and when they are running late they skip the furthest away. If you ring you always get the reply “driver reports nobody there”….
Most reliable carrier is UPS we find and we also use them for outgoing parcels and have never let us down on collection. Perhaps more expensive but the old saying “you get what you pay” applies.
we also find it’s worth building up a good replationship with the drivers (a bottle at x-mas) so when they are faced with a choice of two deliveries they deliver to you.

Funny you have to bribe someone to do the job they’re paid to do, I do get your point though. The drivers who come here are generally very good – its the deadheads in the hub who seem to cause the most damage and seem to be unaccountable.

lol, i missed this question ! i always catch fish ! except the other night in a howling force 9 gale and driving rain ! i even continued for an hour after the match finished in a vain attempt to not blank, but blank i did !

anyways, couriers, i use city link, reasonable price, and the only time they’ve screwed up (once in about 150 jobs) they paid me !!

True, but I learned a long time ago that it isn’t a perfect world. These days I don’t try to fight the system, instead I just make it work for me in the best way I can.

The way I see it is that I pay the local council for a basic rubbish collection service and I have no complaints. On top of that I give the binmen fifty quid at Christmas and for that I get the enhanced service – no nonsense about bins overflowing, extra bags, wrong type of rubbish etc etc – and I am delighted with the value I get for that extra pound a week.

It’s the same with the postman, a tenner in his pocket once a year and our mail is delivered before anybody else’s in the village.

    i find them all bad,

with ups i had a parcel that was coming my way and it took over 6 weeks till it got here 😮

    dhl:
i send a panel once to rotterdam, it was 5 meters long an 1 meter high,… they lost it and couldn’t find it in their own holding space, it took a week before someone saw a package laying there wich didn’t seem to get send, reported it and finnally it was found again.

abx: doesn’t seem to know where antwerp is

tnt is just to bad for words

    just ranting here 😀
