http://www.rolanddga.com/pdf/brochure_EcoMax_Flyer.pdf is a broschure on it all , seems its a hot swappable thing too , they say no cleaning carts , pump ups etc – just load and go.

The drying time must be dramatically improved if they are saying a take-up roller can be implemented. I have already encountered problems with my versacamm printing long runs (8’+). Also wondering how much cheaper the ink is?
Too bad I still haven’t even used up any of my inks yet, I bought 2 sets and haven’t run out of any colors in the first set. Though I have already pulled in some nice profits with the machine just in the first 50 days of owning it, especially with the t-shirt transfers!
Thanks for the info, Rodney, as I’ve already been buggin the suppliers trying to get the scoop.

I noticed the printer will need a firmware upgrade. My Versacamm uses ColorRip, can this be upgraded to VersaWorks?
-
Why would you want to “upgrade”? Colorip is a far better RIP , it’s a Wasatch, one of the best around (albeit a little complex)
I think you have to have a SP300V to use versaworks.
According to Roland , the new inks are compatible with Colorchoice, Colorip and Versaworks.
The firmware upgrade doesnt really affect the RIP at all – its a machine thing. -
Thanks Rodney, you’re a star!
To be honest, I’m very happy with ColorRip and use it all the time in preference to Signlab 7’s rip. As VersaWorks is newer, I presumed it was better, thanks for clearing that issue for me.

Versaworks is very limitting. It will only let you change certian varibles and locks out others. ColorRip/SoftRip is supieror in just about every way.
Versaworks will only work on the “V” machines. Roland has built a dongle inside the machine (or something similiar) so the software cannot be used on other machines.
