Mondeo Wrap
We are thinking of wrapping Alisons Ford Mondeo. It already has signs on – just cut vinyl lettering. We are now considering a full wrap to act as a mobile advert for our business and to give us some more experience of wrapping.
Here’s what we have come up with so far.
Any comments?

As a layman when it comes to wraps looks pretty tricky though. Will you put text on seperate?

I’m not really sure of the best way to do it. My thoughts were to print and apply the background then do the logo as a seperate print and cut. Alison says this is a waste of time and material but I think this will allow us a bit more leeway when it comes to aligning the lettering properly. I’m planning to print the design myself using my 30" Cadet. This means I’ll have a seam running along the waistline of the car (approx. at door handle height) – so another reason for doing the logo print and cut is I can apply this in one piece over the seam.
Hugh – I will be adding the web address and tel. no. using ordinary cut vinyl.
John – I have only ever used Metamark MD5 for wrapping before and I am inclined to stick with it as I have found it to be quite conformable.

These are my thoughts anyway – but I’m not sure if this is the best way to go about it. I’m pretty sure the application would be easier if I used a wider format print covering the entire side of the car in one go. The roof will be all inky dark blue/black.

Looks good to me, always pays to advertise!
Just 1 thing,…if you fit it in two halfs make sure the bottoms fitted first so the water can run ‘over’ the join.

perhaps consider putting a few main bullet points on the rear quarter??

would be temped to do the text in the print, i would wrap the 2 doors as one print, then wing and rear1/4, if you still new to wrapping why make it hard on yourself, the background is fairly forgiving..just my thought may be way off the mark..

overall not a bad design, but I think you will have problems with the rear, mainly because flat designs dont translate onto curves that well, especially when you loose a whole word "digital", over the rubbing strip.It will also be difficult to do in one piece, and keep everything free from distortion, even if the logo is applied as an overlay, so maybe better to do the rear logo horizontal, rather than at an angle.
any way. best of luck with it, look forward to seeing the end product

Can you cover in one piece on the sides from the plastic protector to the tops of the windows? If so hide your seam there underneath it.
Also on the rear make the tag line simple lay on the rear bumper so people can read it isn’t of being slanted.

i wouldn’t wrap that using md5 you will have problems. if you are going to use a metemark vinyl you need md7 cast vinyl. 3m do a good wrap material but its expensive.

i would put the text on the back window, you mite find when its on you will not be able to read it. -

Scott – I have re-checked what vinyl I used last time and it was in fact MD7 not MD5. The MD7 is the cast vinyl and is the vinyl I intend to use. Thanks for pointing that out. 😀

You`re a glutton for punishment Phil. Will this be your first full wrap?.
Btw, have you tried Oracal 3951 and it`s 290F laminate?.
We`re getting great results with it and the price is excellent.
All wraps on our main page were done using it.
