seams it has been happening quite a bit

just a hoax scam.

The likelyhood of the phone system being vulnerable is next to nil.

…so no need to worry.

we’ve been constantly been getting pestered by folk phoning us the past week saying that we need to pay a license to allow our staff to listen to the radio while working. one of the girls, whilst humoring them asked how much?

the lady says:
how many in office?

office girl…
she said 3 of us, 2 full time, 1 part time.

lady says:
in that case it will be £160 per year… but we "wont" back date it from 1998… so you are getting a good deal… now do you have any other radios in other rooms?

the girl in office said…
oh i think we will just get rid of our radio if thats the price, thank you… :lol1: :lol1:

anyone else getting these calls?

We have had these guys here too Rob, IMRO don’t know the name in the UK. They mean business and have the right to charge you for playing any music or radio in the workplace. The fact that you have recieved a phone call means you are on their database and they will call. I know one of their operatives and they are paid on ‘comission’ which means they are like a dog with a bone!! 😀
They will prosecute too.
Maybe its a scam but best be warned.

yeah i am aware fully aware of the performing rights licenses and the like… but ill be damned if i am now going to hand over money to be able to listen to music at work. ide rather do away with the radio and waste the money buying each member of staff an ipod each before handing over more money to people like this. :lol1:

The world has gone mad (again).

The TV and radio companies pay a license to use the music, and now companies are being asked to to pay to use music which has already been ‘paid’ for!

I wonder if it also applies to company provided vehicles?

What about mobile phones which have mp3 music as a ring tone? After all, they are too often heard in a public place.

Visited a dentist today to fit a sign, while I was there I related your story about the PRS people to the practice manager. She told me that they had a PPL licence, because the waiting room is a public place like a pub or club. They had also had the telephone assault by the PRS and her answer to them was that the radio was for the employees not the public and that the radio broadcaster paid the PRS. They eventually gave up ringing.
