    Hi Folks

I’m in need of a vehicle outline of a Mitsubishi Shogun SWB, the vehicle is my own vehicle, I have an outline of the LWB version but i would like the SWB vesion if anyone has it or if one exists.

Also I have looked over the forums, does anyone know if there are any demos from members showing how to make vehicle outlines. I know that you can take a photo and resize using percentage values etc… but i’d love to know how to do it by following an experts demo, is there any such advice available.

Any help or pointers on the above two items would be most appreciated.

Its quite easy to resize from a photo, but it is also quite reasonable to but an outline disc from Impact or Others.
If you want to make your own, first you must have a reasonable photo, taken from a square angle, and with a camera that has a reasonable lens to prevent to much distortion.
You then need a couple of actual datum measurements. distance between 2 points , Wheel centres are good, and say the height of a door.
Import your picture into your sign programme and resize to the actual measurements. in signlab you can do this by clicking on the two points and typing in the size you need. But in other programmes you could just draw a line the length of the actual measurement and resize your photo to fit. If you use two or more actual measurements the more acurate your photo will be. You can also use this technique for sizing shop signs etc.
    Hope this helps

Outlines will usually very inacurate if you work from photo’s.

    I know from experience! 😮 😮

If you can do it well I may have a job for you! :lol1:

Hi Brian, I know they are difficult to work with, but when you look at say impacts outline cd’s or the car & Truck cd’s they do not contain every vehicle, even some of the popular cars, most of the outline cd’s concentrate more on vans and trucks etc, I work a lot with rally cars and off road vehicles, these are pretty hard to find on these disks.

Peter – Thanks for the tips mate, i will certainly give your suggestions a go over the weekend, atleast if i can resize on screen, i can always check the actual measurments against certain parts of my vehicle to check they are accurate.

I will let you know how i get on

    Thanks again
