  • missing chunks of print.. any ideas why??

    Using corel draw X5 & HP Z2100,

import 12mb photo > powerclip > Place inside container (to crop) > add the logo’s and text > Print (enter settings)… printer just goes through the motions and prints nothing.

attempt two.. as before but Bitmaps > convert to bitmap > 150dpi cmyk > print… does as above.

attempt three… as before but now saving as a bitmap in a PDF file, pdf is to full scale. prints but then leaves a chunk of print missing out around 2/3rd down the print…

    getting rather frustrated :-/

will try again tomorrow after I’ve picked up and replaced the now almost empty LC!

Bit late late but similar used to happen with colourrip if any of the rip folders had too many files in the list.
Does look like a memory problem.

    thanks Chris,
I’ll try it saved at a lower res and see if that cures it. pretty sure the Z2100 has a lot of memory though,

    Hi All,

got the new ink and new roll of tear proof for the banners, saved the image at a lower res cmyk image which made the print about 10mb smaller, no doscernable difference on the print, now it has (not for the first time) done half the print, spooled it out to the end of the banner and cut off the job (I can deal with the cut issue),

this is beginning to really annoy me, it’s not so much the material costs, the four aborted printed barely run into £15 but it’s time wasted.

any ideas .. on a post card please!!

    back tomorrow!

We always export Corel files as an EPS regardless if vector or image.

    Maybe worth a try.

We have similar problems with pdf layering from InDesign files. We always send to our RIP as an eps.

Hugh Ive noticed when importing a file into corel it sometimes mixes up the layers so what im saying is the text is still there just its hidden it underneath – not sure how you solve it though!

    Hi guys,
the file was created in Corel X5,

imported the photo (massive!), resized to fit in the area I wanted and then powerclipped into the frame / outline,

text added on top, whole thing converted to a cmyk bitmap – if I don’t change it to a bitmap it will just print the text and not the image.

if printing direct from corel it will sometimes just print half and spool out to the end.

if I publish to pdf (as the bitmap) it sometimes missed bits.

it’s so random that I’m struggling to figure it out.
