• Mirror on shopfront?

Posted by Susan Rowe on July 25, 2019 at 2:37 pm

I have a customer interested in lettering for their shopfront. They are also wanting to cover some of the lower window panel with a mirror finish. A few questions:
    1. Can I get mirror film to put on?
    2. Is this a safety hazard for the street in front? Reflection from sun or headlights?
    3. Anyone done this and had it look good? Somehow I dislike the idea, but need more than my personal opinion to dissaude them

    2 options I’d look at…
mirror tint film or some of the polymeric mirror silvers have mirror finish on the adhesive side

I used mirror perspex to replace my wing mirror once, come back to the van on a sunny day and the mirror had directed the sun onto the driver’s seat and burnt a 12inch line into the seat that you could put your fingers into. Not saying this would happen on a shop front but something to think about

I would check or get your customer to check with the local council before putting any kind of mirror film/substrate as this can be classed as a distraction to motorists & some councils won’t allow it.
