Mimaki profile that produces correct Pantone colours?
I’ve had my mimaki cjv30 for nearly 2 years now (how time flies!) but never been happy with output colours. I have a few profiles I use, a generic one, a mactac one that’s prints with more magenta and a hexis one that prints more ‘bluey’.
I spent too much time trying to match a Pantone grey today (425) and it’s still not great. I know greys are notoriously difficult to print/match but nevertheless, it’s a pain.
I used to have a Roland and in my opinion versaworks was a much better Rip to use than Rasterlink, I could adjust each of the 4 colours on a slider and it was easy enough to make my own profiles.
Can anyone using Rasterlink recommend a downloadable profile that will just print true colours from illustrator eps files?
I’m running ES3 inks and thank you in advance for any help.

Dude that is the holy grail of printing! We are all hanging out for the perfect profile, meanwhile we are all condemned to trial and error, test prints, and guesswork. Good luck finding it.

Grey’s are one of the worse colours to print.
Pantone is a spot colour, like paint, pre mixed to that colour, you’re trying replicate it with 4 colours.
I don’t know if your rip alows you too, but try and print a CMYK chart off, and pick a mix from that is close to the pantone book.
Do you have a bridge book? That will give you an idea of how close you can get with CMYK.

No bridge book but I’ll try the CMYK chart thanks David. Not only are greys hard to match but once you think you’ve got it, take them outside and they change again! Nightmare.

All you can really do is print out the pantone chart on the vinyls and profiles you commonly use and then make sure you laminate it also. Then compare to that.
I’ve just printed a wrap with a light grey background and the colour is shifting from print to print. I hate greys.

I’m having a similar problem, trying to print CMYK in a ‘sage green’ colour, but getting a nice shade of grey out! No idea how to fix this….
