    Hi,

this morning when I switched on my JV3 I get a cart error…..it is not "seeing" one of the yellow carts.

It is fitted with a bulk ink system and permanent chips…..I switched chips between the yellow carts and the same position is not recognised so I know it is not a faulty chip, I also inserted a spare cart with the chip fitted and same thing.

When you slide the cart in or out there is a spot where you can see the cart being read but no amount of minute movements get it in the correct position.

Anyone else had something like this?

    Many thanks

    John

Thanks Mo…..yes switched it off, dissconected the power lead…….then turned on to drain any power left in it.

Chipemulator who provided the chips think it is the cart connection at fault so will have another look at it today.

I had something similar with a Roland machine, but he reverse. When I tried to flush, the machine wouldn’t recognise that I had taken the cart out, it kept asking me to remove it. Thus out there was a pin that got pressed when you put the cart in, and it had stuck in the cart in position, ie permanently pressed in.

I had to take the cart assembly apart and free it up.

Although your problem sounds more "electronically " based. Maybe a cracked circuit solder on the chip reader?

You could try bending the pins on the chip reader out John? That helps sometimes…

put an original cart in to keep it running for now………this works OK…. so either the chip or the bulk cart are at fault.

    Thanks

    I got this sorted 😀

The issue was that the contact between the printer and the cart was poor…..I cut a little spacer from 1mm hips plastic, slotted it in behind the chip on the end of the cart and that fixed it.
