Yup it was expected, all inks that are sourced from abroad will probably go up as a conscience of the weak pound.

I’ve just had a letter from Perfect Colours who do genuine inks for most makes, price increases are anything from 5% on Epson to 20% on Mutoh. It’s inevitable and will get worse before it gets better. Chin up!

just reading through the Mimaki user group posts… it appears that Epson/JV3 heads have gone up too!

Got a email from grafityp today, roland’s are up again – £99 if I’m not mistaken!! Hoping these BIOmg are ok as they are £68 a cartridge, big difference

I have had same thing from suppliers for ink for our valuejet.
All I can say people is this is the first of many price increases as the pound gets weaker and our government tries to dig itself out of this recession.
Guess we are all going to HAVE to put our prices up!!!!!!!!!!! -
Applied Image have altered their website for their upcoming new RIP (finally) and announced price rises

The UK Mimaki distributor, Hybrid Services Ltd, has announced increases in Mimaki ink prices effective from 5th January 2009. A Hybrid spokemen explained that the rises are:“Due to unavoidable pressures resulting from the current economic climate – most specifically the poor performance of the pound against foreign currencies”.

Just went to order carts and Hybrid have increased distributor costs by another 6.5% yesterday…….second increase in 6 weeks.

Im using lison 2000 eco solvent inks in my jv3, 440 £45. Never been a problem, some times I run the machine day and night with out looking at it. Im even temped to use bulk in for £56ltr just dont want to risk my heads. I dont see the point in buying genuine inks.

Have you guys actually worked out how much ink costs to print a square metre?
and then added the increase to your finished product?I think if you need to worry about a few pence per metre, then your margins are to far low.
Yes cosst are going up, so why not put your prices up accordingly?
We already know the answer though 😀

I estimate approx £1 per square metre ink cost…..give or take.
I know what you are saying Peter…….but two substantial increases within 6 weeks?
Drives people to look at cheaper alternatives…….john

Been using these for the first real time today but I’m not too impressed at all. The whole room stunk of a solvent smell. Now having read these are as per the originals surely they shouldnt smell of solvent, a little or at all?
Have since ordered some more originals and they werent £99 either! thanks cameron 😉
Needless to say I wont be using any more 3rd party inks in the machine, just gave me a fright today wondering what if! Needless to say if the "what if" does happen soon I’ll be looking for someone else to be putting it right.
Incidentally does anyone know the actual cost per sq. metre for print? I realise colour intensity in the design will vary this figure a lot but wondered if there was a thumb in the air figure somewhere?
