Hi Andy,
you can download the Firewire driver here
http://www.mimaki.co.jp/english/download/uc_index.php#1
it is listed as IEEE1394 DriverAll the best.

Hi John….I tried that version with no joy on Windows 7 …. Do you think I need to revert back to XP….thanks

If you have Win 7 Pro can you run it in XP mode?
none of the firewire drivers there seem Win 7 compliant……If you are absolutely stuck the JV3 will run from a parallel port but will constantly clean the heads as it waits for data as the transfer is so slow.

Perhaps it is the firewire card that will not work with Win 7?

Thanks Guys..
If anyone needs to do this.
From a new computer with Shiraz and Windows 7
I got a new computer with a firewire card, hand built! was much cheaper [ended up changing the firewire card as below]download driver from mimaki website
http://www.mimaki.co.jp/english/download/uc_index.php
The device driver in redIf using Shiraz create a new queue using Null [if Firewire does not appear] and then connect using the setup in server to Firewire.
If problems persist with your firewire card get a TI chipset firewire card
