microsoft word problem, any advice?
Posted by Robert Lambie on February 21, 2005 at 10:57 pmhi everyone… got myself a bit of a problem here…
i have to load thousands of words onto one single piece of A4 paper typed up in Microsoft word.
all the details in this document have come from an original A4 hard copy and are ALL on one single sheet of paper.
but now that i am trying to reduce text hight it wont allow me to go any lower than 8 pixels high.
ide guess it needs to be about 5 at most.can anyone advise me on how to get all this text on the one sheet?
any advice much appreciated 😀

Hi Robert,
try copying the text and pasting it into Illustrator. This will allow you to “scale” the text as a whole rather than by the character size. I’m assuming you have Illustrator. If you don’t, e-mail me the document and I’ll have a go for you. I can send it back as an eps.

Hi Rob
I just called up word and had a play, once I highlight my the text i want reduced, then i just highlight the text size and type in what i want then press return, 5, 4, 3 and i can chose 1er hope this is what you meant, if you have any problems email it to me and I will send it striaght back
the alternative is when you print it ask it to scale to fit to page
hope this helps

will this still be able to be reopened in word though (after sized) as ide still like to keep it as a word document?

Yes this will still be a word doc, if either of the ways I have mentioned are used…….

just curious Rob, why do you want it so small, trying to save paper?
Peter -
you ought to have Microsoft publisher, it’s a lot easier to understand than word

its a legal document that needs signed. im holding the original here and although very small it is still easy enough to read.
lanie thanks for that… but doesnt go lower than 8 for me?
-
Could be the font
Send it over and I’ll mail it back
I used Times New Roman

Rob 8 is the lowest in the drop down Highlight the box type in the number (highlight the text first) then hit enter

You might be able to do it if you paste it into word then select it all right click the highlighted text select font then in the box that pops up under character spacing tab select spacing – condenced and condence it till it fits one page too late I know but a quick way to make it all smaller.
