  • Metallic Print Vinyl ?

Getting plenty of use from my SP300V, but there is one thing I havent been able to do !

Does anyone know of anywhere that supplies metallic silver and/or gold print vinyl ? At the moment when I need to I either print an approximation, which is OK for small areas, or layer cut vinyl for larger jobs, but it would be really useful to be able to print in black onto silver vinyl.

Would standard metallic silver vinyl work, or would it need to be a special sort like print vinyl.

I’m sure I saw somewhere advertising silver print vinyl once, but cant find it again now.

I use ordinary Oracal 651 silver. It works great Black prints as black, but other colours appear mettalic, ie blue becomes metallic blue.

    Hi Mike,

You could try Hexis as well. They have quite a range of "special" films which include some strange metallics.

If you do come across other brands which seem to offer a metallic finish, check with the supplier that it is not metalized polyester as this will not print on the SP-300 without a surface coating.

i use 3M for this, 50 series -> works well.
oracal works also. with avery, 800 is the first usable series, with 700 you get only troubles. The prints in the back of the sticker appear in the print..

Sorry if my english is bad, last time i typed it was more than 10 years ago 😀
