  • Message ‘not enough memory for the bitmap’ ??

Posted by Phil Veitch on September 22, 2010 at 10:41 am

We have had this problem for a while, we are using 7.1 print and cut, when trying to output to pint and cut manager we keep getting this message, then the program closes..

Any suggestions as to why, the print is a gray fade and I’ve set a profile in signlab and it prints this fade great, but in versaworks I’ve not played with anything and the pint is pants..

    Thanks in advance

We mainly get this is we set up duplicates in signlab, if possible repeat in P&C. Also rotating bitmaps causes issues, again if possible create in the graphics in the orientation you want to send them to the printer.

it was a problem with signlab, but has been improved with SL8.
    How big is the image?
You may be able use the link facility to get round some of the issues,
and Like Gavin says do repeats in the rip, not in sigmlab itself, you will need to rip to file first though, if it is a print and cut job, before you can do repeats

what was the error when it failed to print? Shouldn’t be memory after it has ripped. I think you may need to be methodical and eliminate things like cut lines, fades etc. certain design items can cause errors. Can you maybe post an image of what you are trying to print?

If it is still a memory problem, shut down your computer completely, not restart, then try again when it boots up without opening any unneeded software.

Edit – another thought, if you also have a dedicated rip like versaworks, just publish your file as a high quality pdf and print from there, has gotten us out of many a jam. Done this way all your cut lines and everything should work without any messing around.
