Hi All, Haven’t been on for a while, so hope you don’t mind me posing a question.

Got to try and match two RAL paint colours RAL5018 and RAL6027. The first will be to change the colour of some moulded letters and the second to flood coat acrylic panels. How do you think I should go about it.

    1) Use a paint that is suitable for acrylic (outdoors), if there is one? This would give the best match as you could get the exact colours.

    2) Try and find the best colour match from a standard vinyl (cast to wrap the letters). Which I haven’t been able to do yet, as they are unusual colours.

    3) Get vinyl printed to match the colours.

As usual I’ve left this until the last minute to get sorted out so any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry G, happy new year to you aswell.

Bit slow at the moment, I hate Jan and Feb, moving unit at end of month so just trying to get that all organised.

For option 1 we would use our local car paint supplier, he can match most Ral colours in an aerosol, probably best in industrial cellulose, spray the letters first with plastic primer from halfords, then spray the letters with the colour matched paint. Cost is about £12.00+vat per aerosol, one can will do about 12-14 300mm high letters.
For option 2 a vinyl laminate would definately be your best option.

    Thanks for your comments.

Have got a primer from a Dulux Decorator Centre and had top coat made to the specific RAL colours.

As this is something I haven’t done before looking forward to see the results.
