  • Making banners, to hem or not to hem?

    Hi Guys

Do you hem all your banners or just use eyelets?

If you hem your banners. How do you do it?
    Hem Tape?
    Stitch?
    Machine heat weld?
    Something else?

I am just curious as to how most do this because I keep getting undercut by competitors on the most basic banners, nevermind big ones. and when I see what the customer has ended up with I am like, no wonder you got it cheap mate!
I mean, bad designs, cheap looking and the ones I have got close enough to the banner feels like cheap plastic material. Yet customers seem happy to go for this over quality. i just dont get it.

welcome any views on this as it is driving me crazy.
    rant over!

50mm hem, 25mm tape, fold, squeegee to get crisp edges. Never had an issue although would love an automatic welder!

Always pre print with a (grey) 35mm border and use 12.7mm solvent tape.
    Nice eyelets, not cheapo ones.

Bang out banners all day. Excellent value for money with good profits.

There will always be somebody doing them cheaper, smaller, lower quality, half-assed…just do what you do and don’t get sucked into producing junk…check your profits and see if you can drop when you have to without being a busy fool.
