  • Magnetic Sheets for applying vinyl to for various vehicles?

Posted by Toby Lanham on April 12, 2012 at 1:10 pm

    Hi All,

I’m looking for some magnetic sheets for applying vinyl to, for various vehicles.

I’ve checked out MDP, Robert Horne & Bisbell.
    Does anyone have any recommendations?
They will be swapped from vehicle to vehicle so want something that’s gonna last – and not fall off on the motorway!

I was also wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that did coloured ones…

    Cheers

    Toby.

I would NEVER suggest that magnetics are suitable for motorway speeds and I include that on my care sheet. Ring the manufacturers and try and get them to say different if they do try and get them to put it in writing – won’t happen. I have used magnetic from various suppliers and Anchor is as good as any.

Bisbell are brilliant, they are manufacturers of all things magnetic and not just sign suppliers selling other peoples material, give them a call and have a chat, they know their stuff and are very helpful

i have used them for years If you buy the brown magnetic (cheaper than white) you can cover in any colour you like or fit with printed vinyl

always give customer a care sheet (normally sent with magnetic)
i photocopy them and if handed to customer with bill it means you’ve done your bit and if they drive down motorway at 80mph and then come back to you to say they fell off your covered. :lol1:

Regarding mags coming off – I’m more concerned with the damage they cause if they hit anyone or anything rather than the replacement cost. The sheet is very heavy so I try not to make panels too big.

OK Thanks all, and dont worry Alan, It will mainly be on a land rover so no change of it doing over 70! – especially once loaded up with a trailer etc!

just a thought make sure you check land rover doors before doing magnetic signs i think they tend to be aluminum? magnetics won’t work on them

Says they are designed to withstand the higher European speeds – whatever they are!

If that’s on their safety sheet, then just copy it and supply it to your client.
