• Magic Touch System

    Hi Everyone

New member here etc etc etc.

I primarily deal with sublimation (all kinds of substrates) as well as ready made heat applied transfers etc. However, I am increasingly being asked for things that I just can’t do with sublimation such as dark tshirts, or such like and have been looking into some additional equipment.

I have had a look at the magic Touch system (I will be getting cutter as well in near future) and wondered if anyone had any comments that they could share with me regarding its pros & cons.

I have had all the spiel from TMT themselves (but obviously they are sales people) so if anyone has direct experience I would love to hear from you.

    Thanks

    Sam

    HI

We use some of the Magic Touch products with our Epson laser printer. We mainly use the t-shirt transfer paper for white/light coloured t-shirts, however, I had a sample of the paper for dark t-shirts just to try out and wasn’t keen at all. If feels like you have a piece of paper stuck to your chest and when you wash it, it creases lots.

If anyone wants dark t-shirts, we try and talk them in to either white t-shirts or cut vinyl.

The Magic Touch are very helpful though, if you want to give the dark t-shirt paper a try, just telephone them and they usually pop a few samples in the post to you.

    Hope this helps

I have used TMT stuff. I like the laser transfer (TTC3.1) paper for full colour on white garments – easy to use and durable if washed and ironed as instructed. The CPM 6.0 paper for printing onto hard surfaces is also good but I am not convinced to its durability on mugs. I have also tried the Magicut, their new flex media and the Flock which is cut on a plotter, have to say not wildly impressed with the Magicut or Flex but the Flock was good, I use the Victory Hot Mark which for me has proved to be the best of many I’v tried.
I use a Jarin Industries (Europa Leisure) press with a Teflon coated platten (so you don’t need a teflon paper sheet) and if you double press, the Hot mark goes into the fablic so well you can hardly feel it.

    Thanks for that,
It gives me a little more to think about, I also use Europa Press so good comparison for me to use.

    Hi Sam

We have also used TMT, TTC3.1 paper with a QMS 2200DL laser, with some very good results. So much so, that we have now got an order for 200 printed t-shirts. Used a Gilden 100% cotton t-shirt pre-shrunk from BTC. Washed it, ironed it and it look just as good as when I first did it.

So far no problems from TMT. 😀

    thanks Lee,

Thats great news, still considering all my options at the moment but looking to buy a system in the next couple of weeks.
Getting fed up with turning jobs down because of subli being limited to white tshirts (I know Xpres have come up with this subli dark but I don’t like it).

Had a lot of dealings over the years with lots of different companys and have found tmt will always give you the back up you require which is more than some others can truthfully saythey dont tend to make wild claims and thier service and goods are spot on. and before you ask no im not on commission 😆
    Hope this helps………………….FB

I agree with Bob, At my last company i used the full magic touch system including the ‘SpaceOne’ printer for 18 months and found it a very good piece of kit.

The laser was used for everyday printing, colour proofs, using quality glossy paper we printed our flyer on it too, the scannner attachment made for easy photocopying in black and white. If anything went wrong a quick call to TMT sorted it out.

Papers wise i think i used just about everything, the TCC 3.1 for white t-shirts the OBM 5.2 for dark t-shirts, the CPM 6.0 for flat metal, magnetic, foam PVC, the water slide for candles and model decals. And the CL media for small run Stickers.

There was no conflict if the printer jammed, one call to TMT sorted it, none of this it’s the paper, it’s the printer situation.

Warning – using transfer papers in a non-reccomended laser will void your warrenty, as i found out to my cost when my Magicolour 2 desklaser jammed with transfer paper, would have cost as much to repair as to buy it new again!!
