hi all… im on the scrounge to pick your brains again.. 😳

basically i have received a cd jam-packed with images and text, tons of the stuff… problem is, ill need the lot!
it has all be sent in MAC format & i cant get them to give it in anything else. the problem of course is i need it in PC format.
is there an easy way to convert?

i have heard of a program, but does this mean me having to do every single file one by one?

also, what name is the program called?

thanks a million in advance for any advice/help. 😀

i use transmac but is limited in the size of files to convert cause it’s free 😀 also macopener & maclan!! 😀

give them a go and see how you get on!! 😀 i think you will have to open one by one……..not sure maybe the mac folk will help you more!! 😀

forgot to say if your really stuck send disk it to me and i’ll open them for you? 😛

    Robert…

You were told to buy a Mac but, oh no, you wouldn’t listen. You knew better. You had to get a PC and at the first sign of trouble you come crawling back. Serves you right!

    😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

PS. I got Macs but I don’t know if I can help you. Certainly I would be able to open the files but wouldn’t know what to save them as for opening on a PC. If somebody can enlighten me I would be happy to give it a go.

    thanks folks… greatly appreciated.

thing is, when i say jam-packed i mean hundreds of megabytes of pics and info. guess its buy a new program and do it one by one 😮

john, i did go for pc mate, but not as big a one as i hoped for.
seems tax man isnt giving as big a tax relief on computers this year after all… but was last or year prior at 100% 😮
    this year its 50%

still i got a damn good comp, monitor is only 21inch liquid screen though & i have a big beefy comp.. top end p4, 3×200 gig hard drives blah blah blah, reuter to connect comps etc the new one is for video editing and that kinda thing, mainly running the site and demos, the other which has until now run the site is big but will be used for the site accounts, uksg info & contacts, & all general administration.

heres hoping this will organise things better and lighten my load. 😕 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

Rob just a thought, I know that I can open most mac images and files here if I shorten the filename and change the suffix

I know its seems around the world for a shortcut but it saves me running both computers when I dont need to

You might try copying a few files onto your hard drive and playing

I know that windows XP will allow you to access a mac disk

    Hope this helps

    nik,
i was very keen on the beasts that your link showed me… cool as machines. but like i said prices were a bit high in the end due to me getting this and that off.
i went to a guy that builds all our comps fpr our sign business. hes very knowledgable & hs is a lecturer in computers etc for some big businesses.
he also has a computer store.
i told him what i was after and what i really needed from the comp and he built it to my spec with some add-ons from advice he gave me.. just ordered it so should have it next week. ill let you know how i get on 😉

I’d definitely recommend Macopener as mentioned by Nik.

It’s one of the best apps I’ve ever bought, totally boring, you don’t even know it’s running. You don’t even realise when you’re looking at a Mac disc, except you can work with the files. 😉

Transmac from http://www.asy.com is shareware and that does have a size restriction if you register there is no ristriction on size, Crossfont (a font converter) is also downloadable from this site and between them I have always managed to convert any Mac file I’ve been sent. It actually works best if the file is on a Mac disk.

I have found the program that converts MAc font to pc fonts. Its shareware.

I will happily email it to you, if you would like me to or anyone else for that matter

    hi
thanks a million for the offer but in the last 15 minutes i have just bought conversions plus from dataviz online 😮 trust me eh? 😕 :lol1:

basicaly conversions plus is by the same company that makes macopener.
macopener is also in coversions plus but conversions plus has more features etc… so i opted for that as it was only about a tenner more..

i dont think my new computer arrives til wednesday so ill load it on then and let you all know how it goes..
i bought some great video editing software for new comp too…
heres hoping all will go well and i can get loads more video downloads done too 😉

thanks for the help moonsurf and everyone else..

p.s. moonsurf… sorry but it is me thats been deleting the smurf. i dont know if thats your avatar or your trying to imply its me :lol1: :lol1:
