mac to pc file transfering help
Had this problem in the past and can’t remember what the problem was. A design agency is trying to sent me some files (16 in total) that were generated on a mac. I use pc/coreldraw12 but no matter what file they send I cannot open or import it.
I’ve asked them to send a pdf with all fonts to curves/paths, no layers or hidden characters and still I cannot import the file. I know peeps have mentioned on here that the newer versions of coreldraw have no problem but I haven’t upgraded yet.
Any info on what to ask them to do to these files is appreciated.

I would have thought that everything converted to curves and saved as .eps would do it.

If you want to mail me one of the files John, I’ll open and re-save.
If that works I can do them all for you.

I would expect an eps to work too. X3 and X4 do a better job of importing pdf not that it will help you with this though.’
If you do work with eps use the ‘postscript interpreted filter if you want to edit.

File – import and from file type use PS, PRN, Postscript Interpretd. This will import EPS and shapes etc. Choose text as curves and the font shape should be retained although not editable text.
The Draw eps filter is a separate filter and will import a low res header or a grey box if no header. This header for positioning and sizing it will print fine if you are using a postscropt printer but only the header if you are not. The advantage of using this filter is Corel does not touch the code, the output device ‘interprets’ it on output but of course you can’t edit any of the shapes in Draw.
X3 and X4 did away with 2 separate filters for eps, now you get jut one but with the option of editable or placed. These filters are better than V12 as you would expect with newer versions, the PDF filter particularly so.
