Acouple of questions regarding the above, I have been asked to do a luton van, it is already signwritten, have to remove vinyl from body and rear up and over roller shutter type door.

Any tips / advice removing vinyl from fibreglass body and aluminium raer door ?

Any tips advice regarding applying to rear up and over door, vinyl to go onto about 50 or so thin aluminium slats.

with regards the read door, make sure it’s cleaner than clean in the gaps,

then appl dry as normal, and run a sharp blade along the gaps to allow the vinyl to roll around, tuck in or trim the edges.

with regards to removal, i always use a razor blade scraper, carefully get it under the vinyl and get an edge up, bit of heat too, and it comes off ok, unless it’s posh cast vinyl, in which case i’ll just wish you luck !! that stuff is a pig to get of after just a couple of days !

be careful with the scraper, not to dig itinto the paint, of if you do, be even more careful to be sure you’ve buried it under the vinyl 😮

    re rear door
i dont go in to the gap due to the shutter going up and down
i alway trim just a mill on either side of shutter gap this help not getting the dog ear effect in time to come and if you make sur its just a mill you wont see it
i alway explain this to my customer first

Thanks for the replies guys, usually apply a little heat on removing old vinyl but was a bit apprehensive because of the fibreglass body. I think I’ll go with trimming approx 1mm on rear door panels, makes sense

    Thanks again
