• Lotus S2 stripe

Posted by Phil Craddock on August 9, 2010 at 7:54 am

morning all, I have an S2 Lotus Elise in for fitting next week and although the customer wants and has ordered various parts to be wrapped in Carbon he is now asking for a Shelby (single) stripe down the centre of the car.

Now this doesn’t faze me but the front bonnet cover has a massive 90 degree ledge and wondered if anyone else has done this and any advise would be most appreciated.

I was thinking of wrapping the section and trimming back but as a last resort as I don’t want to put blade to car if I can help it.

photo attached to show the areas I’m talking about.

    kind thanks, Phil

i would start with a big bit of thin paper and start folding it in. then draw on it.
i think you will end up with a inverted fan shape.
i would not stretch that one even with wrap vinyl.
or fit a triangular bit in the upright first then finish the joins with a pin line stripe.

    enjoy

    thanks Chris

I was also thinking of doing it in sections with a little overlap – if the customer is happy doing it this way as the stripe would be gloss black.

Could try using the cut-line tape from hexis. Tape out the stripe and wrap the whole thing in one, being very generous with the material. Then afterwards trim off the excess.

Heres a link to the product pdf on the hexis website:
