I’d say maybe as high as 95% that we quote we win. Not through being cheap just am quick to reply, we bit of time explaining our pro’s I.e we’re going to use a cast on your van which has a 8 year life span etc etc

But two in two days now.
First was 2 pop up banners. £30 each cheaper than what I quoted. Emailed back last night just saying we are competitive on what we are offering basically and don’t do a lesser product. Got told to jog on this morning.

Second is for double sided tote pole. Poles are already there so just need face either side.
Anyway apparently 2 other sign companies have quoted and produced her artwork already from low res images (so that’s either hours working on it or be sent off to be done at a cost).

So who would go what option

    A) sorry love, we do artwork after being awarded the job and of course will work with you until it’s correct. We are two busy to do that on a chance (in nicer less arrogant way)

    B) not respond at all so I don’t have to sound like an arrogant muppet but also look unreliable.

    C) bite the bullet out of pride, get 2 images vectorised and then hope our quote of £120 a panel is good
    Enough…

Also got another one that closer to 5k than it is to 1 that gets his signs re-done every year to year and half as they bleach back to white almost. I’ve never seen a monomeric that shrinks so much. I think my explaining and let’s do things this way so your good for another 5, maybe even 10 years is falling on deaf ears…

    Rant over.

Last month we were quoting jobs and loosing out on many. It was a combination of sh!t customers, who shop on price, and I the feeling I got was there were competitors buying up the work, doing it to make next to nothing because they’re so quiet.

We don’t provide free visuals, unless it’s a quick thing to throw together, and the customer feel’s genuine.

I try to sell the advantage to them. By only dealing with ‘genuine’ customers, you can focus on their needs and orders. Remind them that your creativity and skills on the computer are how you earn a living. Would they (insert a job relevant to them) for free, and only accept payment if they were cheaper than everyone else, and you liked what they did?

Had it with a coach company once – Would they drive to Alton Towers to pick us up, knowing that I’d rang 5 other companies, and whoever arrived first, and had the nicest coaches was getting the job?

Are you sure you’ve lost out or have the enquiries simply deferred making a decision yet? I say this because January is traditionally a difficult month for cashflow and results in a cutback on non essential spending. Taxman and employees wages take priority at this time of year when funds tend to be low following the Christmas and new year break. I would hang tight, you’ll be surprised at how many jobs you quoted that you thought had gone elsewhere will come trickling through in the next few weeks

Absolutely. We’ve had it plenty of times. Along with the phone calls of 100 hoodies, the "I can get them for £6" rubbish and then they come in weeks later with the "am only going to order 4 this now" *sighs*

Along side my rant just wondered how others would respond. Don’t want to come across arrogant and I don’t need your work but at the same time don’t want to see a google review for not responding to emails. But paying for logos to be vectorised for such a cheap job is just madness. As david says, clearly others are quite.

4 garments will be more expensive per unit than 100.

I wouldn’t be doing anything until the customer has paid. Need a logo drawing, charge them. If the jobs reasonable you can loose it in the price.

It’s always January and February. Either people are still riding the waves of there drunken ideas before the reality of money comes crashing down or maybe they think we are so quite we would be desperate to make a loss *rollseyes*
