    hello folks 😀

i just noticed something today..a popular supermarket lorry with banners attatched along the sides, this method is obviously cheaper and quicker for the company to whip off and replace….im just curious to what held those banners on? i couldnt take a piccie as i spotted it when i was overtaking the lorry on a dual carrageway, just thought someone on the boards might know what it was? 😉

They do that here Nik, and use an industrial velcro.

See them mostly on the cheaper supermarket trucks

shane these are for one of the biggest supermarkets over here…it looked like a metal frame..would the velcro be under that? i thought they looked a bit dodgy to be quite honest… the banner was flapping in the middle 😮 but it must work 😀

na these have just got velcro on the full length top and bottom. No frame.

There is a product for truck sides sold here which is a metal frame system, but the banner should be tight, not loose. The signco may not have done it right

yes i thought so too, but im still intrigued if it is a metal frame, how it grips the banner in place 😀

Thats what i thought when i saw it, those things going at speed down the motorway, if wind gets in behind ( well not if when 🙂 ) how do they not get blown out?

Just saw this on John Prescotts website, it’s too early in the morining to read it but from what I can see it talks about motorway advertising and lorrys etc.

However I don’t know what it says about other roads… its all in gobble de gook at 1am

Have they outlawed sign makers yet?

Dave, being nocturnal I have just read it.

Basically if a trailer is parked in a field with a big advert on it, facing a motorway or major a road than it will require planning permission.

If the trailer with an advert on is predominatly used as a mobile trailer, ie used by a haulier as any other trailer on their fleet is, then it won’t require planning.

Its basiclally to get round those that flout planning regs by placing large ads on trailers in fields, using the trailer to exploit a loop hole.

    NO we’re not illegal yet 😀 Thats next month!!! 😀 😀 😀

thanks lads… Nick, look above, this that old thread.

So a mobile trailer pulled along the motorway (eg Lorry Wrap (on trailier)) doesn’t require permision.. ok

No a trailer being used as a trailer doesn’t require planning, after all, what planning authority would it fall under?!? So wraps etc on trailers are safe 😀

    Hi Nik,

Saw one delivering locally and realised it is a flex face banner with the frame being the tensioner if that helps.
