If you can wait until the end of April, come to SignUK at the NEC where you can play with the equipment and get a good deal if you order whilst there.

What does this mean?
Weedlines no longer cut through the inside of letters.

It means that if you do a weed line through the middle of a word, and it has say an "O" or a "D" the weed line will not cut through the centre of the "O" so leaving it in one piece for removal. if that makes sense

quote LucyDrake:Will a craft robo work with sign blazer elements???
Lucy
I dont think so, it comes with its own software and is only really a hobby machine, not something you want to base a business on.
Do yourself a favour and buy a reputable machine for £600-1000 new or a good second hand one.

I’ve got a Graphtec that I use with SignBlazer, the CE5000-60 model. It works fine, good quality machine at a reasonable price, and if you’re UKSG member you can get discount.

quote LucyDrake:Are Redsail cutters any good???
Yes – for craft work and scrap booking
No – for serious business work.
The reason people here go for the more expensive machines is for UK based dealer back-up. I bought a Jaguar III from Grafityp, and when it went wrong I had a service engineer on site the next day practically rebuilding it.
Buy cheap and expect no back up………

I am with Graeme on the Grafityp machines. I bought a Puma II around 4/5 years ago and the cutter has been diamond! Cant vouch for the back up part….. never needed it 😀 but sure it would be sound if required!

I have had a Puma II since 2005 but although I have produced a few stickers with it I would have rated it only good enough for hobby work.

Lot to learn about what??
I now have a bit more time as I have just got my disabled wife off to bed so I will pop off and say hello/
I cant actually remember what questions I asked. Perhaps my questions should have been via PM (But I could not find how to use PM or email )as it appeared to me the chap asking (see I have forgot his name now. lol) might well be in the same boat as me. With a plotter with crap software and no idea what to do, no time to research it and finding it easier to pay 15 quid for what I want quickly!. lol
The point I was making was buying a 800 quid plotter instead of a 300 quid one is no guarantee of success. (still cant remember what I wrote) 🙁 BUt I would still like to have a private chat with Adrian.

Andy, don’t know your background and don’t really want to wander of track to much on this thread but you can get decent software very cheaply, you just have to learn how to use it. An older version of Corel or illustrator would be a good starting point and these can be picked up very cheaply.
Very little you do will guarantee success but you want to give yourself the best possible chance to do well and a plotter that has good support is a good starting point.
