  • Looking for suppliers of framed signs

Posted by Warren Beard on July 4, 2012 at 1:57 pm

    Hi

I currently always get mine (as image attached) from Sign Board Systems as there quality and price are very good, however I often have issues getting anything in a hurry and need to find an alternative supplier for when they can’t deliver in time.

So anybody know of a similar product out there like these?

    cheers

    Warren

    have you tried Glasplas Warren?
used them a few times in the past, very durable signs with a great finish.

Thanks Rob, I’ll get in touch. Not sure if they do double sided swing sign panels though so any other suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

http://www.kingsplastics.co.uk/ Kings Plastics do exactly these signs including brackets.
The frame is called Marquis and can be purchased in lengths or fully made up.
It uses 2 back to back composite panels with a 3mm pvc panel between them.
I’ve attached a photo of one they supplied (not the bracket).
The extrusion is a similar size to the Signboard Systems one.

anybody else have any idea where I can get these from? I can’t even get a response from Sign Board Systems anymore even after I bought time by supplying a free banner I can’t get them to respond with a possible date of delivery? Either they know they the only ones who can supply this so know you have no choice but to wait but it’s pi$$ing me right off as I look really bad in front of my customers who have been waiting nearly 3 weeks now and still have no idea what’s happening.

I need to find an alternative reliable supplier ASAP

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Yes thanks Peter, I have contacted them and they sent me quotes etc etc and found out it’s Panatrim frames, I’ve gone back to them to find out if they have made a mistake or if this is it and not heard back from them yet so am just trying to find any body else.

I’m beginning to think there’s a gap in the market for a reliable supplier of these types of signs 😕

    Cheers

    Glasplas
buy two and put them back to back rivet them together with hanging brackets at the top. lightweight and very durable.

    Local Timber Yard
Buy plywood, cut to size and form frame using dado rail with mitred corners.
    5 minutes work!
paint or stain to suit requirements.

Customer has seen the sample and wants what they saw, the quality of them are really good, solid and well finished, Glasplas only come in specific sizes and also not the same qualty finish but something for me to use for future orders depending on sizes etc.

They don’t want wood and I don’t like working with wood, unless done very well I feel it always looks cheap and doesn’t last as long.

My main problem is it is so easy to sell these ones once the customer sees the quality of them but the supplier is just too unreliable and it’s reflecting badly on my business so until I can find a company who can manufacture the same I’m going to have to stop selling it which is a shape as I really like it.

okay, as i am doing this blind…

my understanding of this now is…
its a decorative finish "double sided" with a rebate down the centre where your panel will sit?

this isnt bog standard stuff warren, so for a start i hope your charging him well.
it is one thing going all out for a customer but dont be a "busy fool" so to speak.

    has he specified these requirements?

i do everything i can these days to prevent using signs made/fabricated from the likes of wood. i blame it on recycling and life expectancy issues which really is not far from the truth.

100% correct Rob, I charge accordingly as I can due to the quality. I do the same for wooden products as even high quality well finished wooden products look weathered too quickly. These panels are riveted together and powder coated, I’ll take some pictures of the sample and post them.

I’ve used Signboard Ali Swing panels a couple of times this year and found them brilliant.
Have you tried calling Hugo on the phone?
He is always very helpful on the phone to me and seems flexible when wanting to use some non standard connections or insert wood bars inside the sign so they can be screwed to fixed brackets.
Both times I have used him he has given me lead times and delivered on them fine.
I find emails nowadays seem to get missed or forgotten by many suppliers.

If Glasplas not to the size you want then Sign Master will also fix two panels together back to back for a projecting. Not used them yet though.

    Hi Stuart

Yes have spoken to Hugo and have done a fair few signs with him, I know they have an issue at the moment as they dropped a huge machine while moving it or something but up to know have been fairly happy with the service (quality always excellent)

My issue was Hugo told me to go else where as he just couldn’t do it so I was trying to find an else where which I have had no luck (maybe why he told me to as he knows nobody else supplies this)

I have spoken to him today and he has now given me a delivery date but will still be a week after my customers shop has opened so still doesn’t look great for me.

Having an alternative supplier would be great, the other supplies mentioned above all seem good and have some nice new leads when required but none of them are the same as Sign Boards unfortunately.

    Cheers

    Warren
