Looking for help with a large lightbox

IMO,

Definitely a scissor lift , providing the ground is nice and flat.

The box would have to sit on top of the cage as I doubt it would fit inside.
I would firstly fix a batten (if your able) for the box to sit on to ease fitting.
2 man job, 3 always better weight permitting..

If your uncomfortable with the fit, (H&S..etc) sub it out

Thanks for the reply, i am uncomfortable with the fit but its only because i havnt done it yet. I feel like most things, once i get one under my belt, future jobs will be stress free.
Would you pre drill the box for fixings? (say 8) then make a template from paper or foamex etc and mark the holes. So you can go up without the box, level, pre drill. Then when you go back up its just a case of getting the box lined up to the holes, screw screw screw…… done.?

The ground is flat with no obstacles.

Martyn, your correct a correx / foamex template would make fitting a lot easier especially at that height.

I don’t do a lot of fitting these days, getting too old 🙁 never found lightboxes a difficult fit though.

Never used a template to fix boxes. usually just go up with my fitter and drill straight through box into wall and then screw it down in middle, this will support it and then allow you to level.
However if your uncomfortable id defo suggest fixing a smallish batten to the wall first, this will allow you to rest it and take most of the weight.

This was a canny size box i fitted with the apprentice.

I think it’s their cherry picker
We have a good relationship with access co up here and
To be honest anything at height we now use scissor or cherry picker etc
So much easier than a scaff tower and with half day full day and operator inc
We actually bought a truck mount but couldn’t utilise it fully so sold it back
Scaff tower fine indoors

Wow that must cost your clients some. I installed a sign with someone else the other day and the cherry picker was £159 + vat for the day, no driver. Okay we were above a canopy so need it but if it was a normal shop front a tower costs nothing ,as it were, as I have my own and it has been paid for several times over.

I’ve done loads of these. Wouldn’t ever consider scaffold tower at that height. I’d be using a scissor. You would be surprised how light each section is. One man at that size could hold it in place while the other levels and drills it. Pre drill the holes through the box.

Below is a 5m x 4m in three sections. I held it in place while the other drilled and fixed it.

I was only commenting on the light box which was above the door with the Masonic sign attached. Anything above a normal shop front height I would use a mechanical access
