  • Looking for advanced cutting software

Posted by Warren Beard on August 24, 2012 at 7:12 am

    Hi

Is there a software that helps with preparing vectors for vinyl cutting, I would like something thatnwouldnaddmweed borders and do auto nesting to minimise waste, the ability to run 2 cutter at the same time would also be good (2x Summa’s)

I currentlymdomthis all manually and can only run one cutter at a time so thought maybe best to start looking. I use illustrator at the moment for everything.

Is there such a product and do you have suggestions, willing to pay good money for the right software.

    Cheers

    Warren

I never used it, but Flexi Pro seems to be the best at what your asking according to most I think.

I’m now using vinylmaster & that has the functions your looking for Warren but I would expect both Flexi & signlab will have them as well

Do VM and Signlab have the ability to run multiple cutters without other software Martin?
    Haven’t used them either?

Warren, I don’t see why Signlab shouldn’t be able to run 2 cutters, I run a Roland cutter and Versacamm plus several printers from Signlab, you simply select which machine to send the job to.
Weed borders are there, not sure about nesting, never thought to look, as it is in Versaworks, when printing.

FlexiSign will run 2 plotters and more, apply weed borders, auto nest very easily.
But like me your Mac based so you’ll need up to 8.5. Well SAi stopped at 8.5 but it has pretty much all you need.
Easily exports files for printing too.

would the windows Parallels software not be an option Warren?
I am sure my sister uses this on 3 of her MAC Pro’s at work for this same reason. i.e. software compatibility.
